That sounds pretty cool. I work with a grant that provides summer learning activities. Cars lined around the block to get their kids into one of the programs. So many of them have Trump stickers.
We've already postponed pre-planning because we don't know if our approved budget will stay appropriated. Likely it will, but next year those programs are already gone. Already had teachers notify me of their intention to quit end of school year. Fewer people to run it.

Very large peaceful protests get portrayed as violent, and they are a show of potential available force. Trump did freak out about BLM. No, it didn't achieve its goals. The us-versus-them lines are deepening, and I struggle to imagine a detente.

I think large peaceful protests can be super effective. But I think, to this particular contingent of fascist, they don't inspire them to lessen their grip or change their ways. It just inspires them to create more abusive laws, give free reign to violent police...
I'm not saying not to have protests, I'm just saying that "peaceful" might not be an option as things get worse.

I agree, but please understand that a majority of the voters aren't actually fascists. They're being deliberately trapped in information silos and fooled into voting against their interests, and they can be reached and freed, though with a lot of effort. There was a John Oliver segment about "foreigners" being deported and the shock of many interviewed Trump voters that people they knew and liked were being thrown out, claiming that those people didn't deserve it, saying that they didn't know.

The thing about fascism is it only needs a few at the top to be devastating. Not to be super cliche, but the people who supported Hitler because of mundane reasons are still called Nazis.
I think we have focused for far too long on trying to educate the people who voted for Trump, on "reaching across the aisle". There is a significant number of people who might not technically be fascist...they just hate "the libs", and that's been enough to destroy our whole country.

I agree, playing by the old rules isn't going to work right now. The Dem's, however, are damned if they do, and damned if they don't. They don't have the logistical power of a majority of the courts and legislatures. We need to support the good ones and start changing the narrative.

The thing I think that's important is that exit polls are the people who voted. A big reason a lot of people don't vote at all is because Democrats aren't left enough. Nothing changes in their neighborhood no matter who's in office.

Worldwide, the U.S. Democratic party is MORE left than many other parties. Even ones with "Socialist" or "Communist" in their names. Marginalized communities are often entirely ignored. The major reason "a lot of people" don't vote at all is narrative based.
Politics is about momentum, & the American left constantly undermines itself. The American left constantly attacks Democrats, echoes & reinforces right wing talking points, & worst of all punishes Democrats for moving left.
