Just this month, I paid off my car. 2 days later, water heater sprung a major leak and had to be replaced...

Trade it in for a prius

Or look at it this way. The car knew you were struggling, and didn't want to bother you with its issues until it knew you could handle it.

It's a cheap and relatively easy fix, but my mass airflow sensor went out yesterday. It sucks that I'm pissed about a $65 fix, but, shit, I've already got to fork out $120 more dollars to have my mechanic replace a part so my car's AC works. And yes, this is a necessary repair. It was 108degrees F today and my second job is delivering groceries.

You know the phrase "I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy?" THIS is the kind of curse I'd wish on my worst enemy. Every time they're about to be financially comfortable, BAM, car trouble, BAM, broken bone (haha 'Murican health care joke), BAM, expensive appliance breaks in an unfixable way!

It's the circle of life

Oh yes. I am doubtful that I can get out of this piss palace and into a decent apartment until I have $2k saved for a car repair

My wife has been saving up for a cello for 10 years now. It’s reached the point where it's actually causing her physical anguish. And no - I don't have the financial means to help her, either.

HAH! Funny! I sold my car and have been using all that money to repair my van. Just got finished with the ignition coil, spark plug wires...And I'm still wondering how in the ever living hell I'm going to replace the back three spark plugs. O_o. Best bet is to remove the cowl with the windshield wipers. A lot are saying "go underneath", yeah, I haven't learned levitation magic yet.

I once refinance my house and got a $3,000 check from the unused escrow. Later that week my car transmission died. It was $3,050 to repair it.

"We've been trying to reach you about your extended warranty. It just ended, you now have $5000 of repairs...Good luck".
Seriously, I think cars, computers, homes just sit there and watch a person's finances, and once it goes down suddenly, then it's go time. Yeesh!

I know that one. I have the car parts thanks to Imgur but I am not skilled enough to do it myself. I need the labor as well.

I feel like at this point I would start learning how to fix my car and fix it out of spite

You should! I got a ratchet set for $40 and has saved me already a couple of thousands in maintenance. Now a day with AI you can easily diagnose and find the correct replacement parts.

I love that Manhwa. "The Skeleton Soldier Failed to Defend the Dungeon" if anyone's interested

If you had a K car it wouldn't be causing you any problems. Because they died before 10 years.

C'mon. That's a nice Reliant automobile.

Image is from the Korean Webtoon: Skeleton Soldier Couldn’t Protect The Dungeon

I wouldn't read it to the (current) end. The first few arcs are pretty entertaining though.

I had to check the comments to find another man of culture. Very interesting comic

Is it done yet?

Has any korean webtoon been finished ever?
There are more k-webtoons than there are koreans in total, I have no idea how they can produce such amounts.

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

the trick is never finishing them and starting a new one

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are some, honestly I rather wait till something finishes, but it takes so long

I mean..technically solo leveling finished.. same with hardcore leveling warrior. But you right.

Had our roof replaced in February for the first time, insurance wouldn't cover most of it because it was so old. Golf ball sized hail in May. Now the new roof is totaled and has to be replaced. It didn't even make it 6 months.

11k on a new central air unit. Been living off a couple window units for a year in Texas while I saved. People go “finance it yada yada yada” uh no, fuck another bill that takes years to pay off.

11k? Jesus Christ is it gold plated or something?

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s the inside unit, outside compressor unit, new pad, cleaning the ducts, electrical fixes… basically the whole shebang. The old system is from the late 70s.

can confirm. my water heater just exploded last month.

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Did it blast through the roof like a rocket? https://youtu.be/4a_OriD5BYg?si=_6d3RU3T49lGYmRZ&t=1122

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, but it did do significant water damage to a dividing wall in my garage :(
Could always be worse I suppose. No roof damage.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They also mentioned at the end of the episode that it actually did happen and one of the houses it happened in had to be condemned. So yeah, while what happened to you definitely sucked, it could have been far worse.

Mine went from a small, manageable leak to leaking gallons per day that the shit ass drip pan the old owner installed could handle, while I was saving up for a new one, was like that for a month. On the bright side, it's so hot and dry that all the water has actually leeched back OUT of the wall and framing and is now completely dry so yay?
