I mean, to be fair, leaf springs are useful for making tools. Folks used to make Kukri blades out of them.

Why do the Brits like warm beer? Because Lucas made fridges too.
DethKap
Magnificent.
Fnarrrr
Stoatally brilliant! Weaselly one of the best carvings i've seen
ArgJargon
The artistic eye to incorporate/accentuate the grain as whirls and eddies of the water.... just absolutely next level.
Grimmrog
on the one hand, it loosk amazing, on the otter it feels difficult to clean
Gilgamech
Imagine having that as your dinner table, with a built-in centerpiece. Add a trout and it could be House Tully's banquet hall main table.
AnToByn
Totally beautiful… but definitely a rubbish dinner table.

I’d be spilling my glass everytime i put it down in one of those grooves. Easily avoidable i’m sure, i’m just a clutz.
Colopty
I'd feel bad using that as a table.

Sharpened Land Rover springs‽
Tedster59
Spring steel makes a good base for blades and tools, it's the right type of metal IIRC.
Iputthebestinbestiality
Yup! Sami knives are made from them. Good knives!
blinkie79
Making knives from vehicle springs is pretty common among blacksmiths and metal artisans because it's cheap yet high quality material.
So to use the springs you'd need some metal working equipment to reforge them. I guess I was picturing curved tools.
Not an expert but they'd need to be annealed to make them soft for sharpening, then tempered again. The curve would likely be ok for carving
Daraanel
I’m guessing the metal is not too brittle, yet not too soft - or they couldn’t be springs. Straightened and sharpened into chisels. Genius.

Spring steel makes good tools
Ja5per
Were they spring rolls?
necrojoe
If I had to guess, they were more likely left springs (easier to cut into tools than rolled/coil springs.

Started off shiving people in the forest; knicked a tree and discovered a new talent
That's how most new hobbies begin.
Tried to shiv next to a campfire; shanked instead; now I’m a blacksmith
This has been some quality nonsense.
Incidentally, that’s my other hobby
