Why the downvote? The og landrace breeds in South America were outbred/taken over when the Spanish came. These dogs are 2% "primitive" breed and 98% Eurasian dogs by genetic testing...
From what I can find, their ears are naturally upright. Might need to be taped while they’re young but not cropped like some others if my google-fu was strong today.
Mine is a toy Xolo (much smaller than the standard size in OP photo). Hes very much a "velcro dog" always follows me, always wants to be close, and wants to cuddle at bedtime. They have an abundance of energy. I live in a ranch so they burn their energy outside. Generally I keep them outside for an hour or so. Then they nap for a few hours
Mine is… a unique dog for sure. They are a primitive breed so training is a bit different. Stranger wary, huge cuddle bug, uses her paws like hands, maybe a bit neurotic? Has to be kept busy or she’ll cause trouble, but always like weird goofy trouble. (Mine tried using the cat running wheel one day?!) I always say “she is both the king of the court… but also the jester, too smart for her own good and always doing something dumb. My favorite dog though lol
I read a description that said they're like a giant hot water bottle. Yes they can be hairless like this one but can also have a full coat of fur. From what I'm reading it's all genetics, you could have both hairless and coated in the same litter of puppies.

Getting one is completely dependent on their own location and $. There is only so many reputable breeder's in the states so depending on location that may involve a long car trip. From my own experience I was lucky and a good breeder was relatively close, was a simple process of paying to reserve one in an expected litter and all other new puppy fees. Probably way more breeders in Mexico but I know absolutely 0 about the process of bringing in a dog across borders
They're expensive but look in Egyptian and Mexican dog pounds, this breed is from Egypt mainly. That or be rich and try to find a breeder but I hate breeders so look in pounds around Egypt etc
And I'm talking about pure breeds too you can find alot of mixed ones in Mexico because Mexico imported dogs too slot of American breeds and nowcbarely any pure breeds exist

this is a late reply, but why on earth would I want any kind of pure breed? I was looking into xolos because they are somewhat native to my hemisphere and seem healthier overall than breeds selectively bred by humans.
