I just left Louisiana, after living there 5.5 years for work. There are some great people, some wonderful food and music, and they have a lot to be proud of, but the conservatives that run the state just suck the joy out of it. And I think people just vote them back in due to name recognition, and lack of caring. It almost doesn't matter; any ballot will have like 1 or 2 dems/independents for a position and 20 republicans.

Probably not the world's biggest loss that he isn't up for re-election despite this, because he's pretty anti - abortion / fairly pro - life. From what I could gather, he does believe there are times abortion is the best or only plan to handle things, whereas many prolifers will not even excuse incurable genetic deformities or disorders, nor are many of them willing to hear out that the mother's life is also important and giving birth could kill her.
I don't know his exact stance because I've never heard of him until reading his wiki last night, but that's what I got from te info I found there and traced down.
