I'm waiting for my appointment at physical therapy atm. Would love a few good laughs when i'm back home again!

Thank you everyone for the stories and the laughs! Keep them coming!

Worked at a ski shop, all 20s white male employees with brown facial hair. Ask customer who was helping them before. "Idk some white guy"

Had a 20 minute conversation on the phone before the customer asked what store they were calling.

I work in an Aquarium gift shop and a grown man asked me yesterday, "where y'all sell the fish at?!"

I once considered working retail, then I decided to look for something more physically painful instead of emotionally.

Sometimes it gets to be so bad it becomes physical, mostly from trying to comprehend the stupid

Trash compactor at store broke and wasn't fixed for two days, we didn't have space so we put it in a trailer and filled it up.

We called DC to not pick up trailer because of trash, well they didn't listen and got a surprise. I got lit up like the 4th of July, laughed

My pet salamander had its tail bitten off by my cat. It grew back.

The worst one.

I just look down at my shirt (which has the store name), look back at them in disbelief, and say "I think so."

When I was 18, a senior-aged customer very enthusiastically asked me "Anyone ever tell you brunettes are the shit!?" Made my day

Dude calls the store. I answer with welcome to the *storname* how can I help you. " uuuh, are you guys open?"

minded?

Sometimes stores answer their phones when they are not open.

That's not that bad, what's bad is (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The correct way to do this is ask "how late are you open today" and if it's close to their closing time, ask if they are still taking orders

Indeed.

This one I do get. Sometimes the call connects but the phone microphone does not.

Happens to me all the time.

All the retail I've ever worked, we answered phones before/after close as long as we were in there. Sometimes managers called to check in.

I used to work at Dick's sporting goods. Every week, twice a week, an old man would come in, wearing work out clothes and ask to check out

the treadmills. We'd point him in the right direction and he'd turn one on and start walking. He'd pretend to adjust the height and speed

for a bit, and then settle into his workout. He wouldn't say anything to us, but just keep walking. We'd ask him if he had any questions,

and he'd say "not right now, but I'll come find you if I do." He then proceeded to walk on the treadmill for an hour, then stop and walk

right out the store. I thought it was weird the first time, then I realized he was using the store as his personal gym after he kept

coming back each week. Sly bastard got away with a free gym membership. One time he even brought a towel to wipe his sweat.
