No, it is possible to legally rape someone with any inserted object - the technicality that got Trump off here was that she couldn't be 100% sure whether it was his finger or his cock, and thus as they couldn't definitively prove what the object was, they couldn't definitively prove she was raped.

This is why Canada removed all references to rape and just classes it all as sexual assault. Doesn't matter what sexes are involved, doesn't matter which genitals go where, if it was sexual touching without consent, it's sexual assault. There are degrees, like groping obviously isn't to the same degree as intercourse.

There is even some legislation that would make women completely inegible to commit rape even with penile to vaginal penetration, as they themselves do not penetrate. It's absurd.

It does depend to some extent on who’s defining what “rape” is. But by pure definition any unwanted sexual act could be classified as rape. For this particular case I doubt this was pushed as it probably wouldn’t have helped the case.

We need to move away from thinking about rape from the sexual perspective and start understanding it is about loss of control of oneself. THAT is what makes it so traumatizing, more than any action involved in it. People shouldn't use other people to get off without consent. Period. It should all be rape.

I'm not sure that's right. I recently sat through jury selection for a sexual abuse civil case in NY. The defendant had already been found libel for abusing the plaintiff. (The defendant was 29 at the time, the plaintiff was 15) The attorney for the plaintiff repeatedly said that the defendant had "orally raped" the plaintiff. (29 yo gave 15 yo a bl*w j*b) I don't think that the judge would have allowed the use of that term if it wasn't "rape". I think the definition is broader than we think.
