Actually, I was born yesterday.

As yet unnamed Munchkins 1, 2, and 3.

A cat showed up at our house one day and decided to make its home in the crawl space under the utility room. After a few months of feeding her and gaining her trust, she will come in the house and eat now, let us pet her and scritch her head and usually comes when we call her.

A few weeks ago we realized she was pregnant. She kept getting bigger and bigger, so three days ago I bought a storage tote and cut a hole for her to get in and tossed in a couple old blankets. I didn't even know if she would use the crate, but I just didn't want to see the kittens born on the dirt under the house so I had to give her another option.

Yesterday morning, she didn't eat much but she was very snuggly and wanted lots of pets and scritches. Yesterday evening, she didn't come around for dinner at 5:30 pm and she's usually very punctual. About 6:30 pm, I decided to take a peek in the crate to see if she'd even been in there and checked it out. I was shocked to see five wiggly little fur balls she had given birth to that afternoon! We are going to try to get her spayed as soon as she recovers and the kittens are old enough to be without her for a day. We are also going to try to get the kittens their shots and spayed/neutered when they are old enough. But, we live in a very rural area and there are no local organizations to help with the cost, so we'll have to pay a vet and it will depend on the fees, etc.
