Or maybe a normal person would jump when somebody comes flying out of nowhere with a fucking fork?
Griztastic
Or the brain knows that flimsy cardboard isn't going to stop a fork coming in at Mach 3 so it's being careful just in case.
MaximumRadius
What happens when the off-camera assistant stabs the wrong hand?
lordkickass
Stab his left hand with the pencil and see if the middle one jumps back
Thatguyoverthere21
FurrySasquatch
And I just pooped a little.
jebert
I think everyone would jump at some crazy person jumping at them with a fork.
sunlitglo
Asians are usually startled by forks. We don't like em!
MG42CHEF
Yes, because you are barbarians, no table etiquette whatsoever. With your slurping and burping, absolutely repugnant.
hellotomlovers
Because you can't eat rice with a fork ;)
Menohe
Ofc you can. Just use the ends of two forks!

The brain does some interesting stuff, if you stab his real hand the fake one pulls back.

I want more of these

Sauce?

I rewatched this a lot to see if he could actually avoid the fork if it was his actual hand

Who else thought about the House episode with the one armed guy?
zeroyoungxray
I actually thought about the Grey's Anatomy scene with Arizona's prosthetic foot https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpjzg-JjzBc

Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night I can feel my leg... and my arm... even my fingers. The body I've lost... the comrades(c)
I've lost... won't stop hurting.... It's like they're still there. You feel it, too, don't you? I'm gonna make them give back our past.

A similar trick to this can be used to help with phantom pain in amputees
buurd86
Thanks for that, Boss!

Seen that on a documentary called phantom brain. It was amazing

I loved Phantoms in the Brain.
Me too!
letsdothisshit
How?
NegmieStar
There's an episode of House with it...
phantom pain often comes from missing limbs feeling as if they are clenched or strained. you set up similar to above, but instead of the (1)
fake limb, you have a mirror reflecting the good limb. the patient then 'moves' both limbs in simultaneous motions, with the mirror (2)
Disenfranchised
Mirror box homie, learned about it in high school physc
creating the illusion of two limbs. this helps the patient feel like they can release the missing limbs muscles, providing relief (3/3)
Bruhbeans
Wow that is cool

Attack amputees with forks, got it. Thanks for the tip!

I'd be startled too if someone with a fork jumped out at me
Bourbonkers
You are correct. Do you find that happens often?
four51
But notice the only hand he pulls off the table?
MiniDitka5
Only one hand was stabbed. If he stabbed that fork close to the the other, he probably would have pulled that one away.
nickg131
Actually neither of his hands was stabbed. That's literally the point of this method. It's a trick.
HerrBisch
Yeah, the delivery here is way off.
