Reference to Star Wars- Leia being a slave to Jabba at the beginning of "The Return of the Jedi," this was the outfit she wore.

After a bit of digging, apparently the "Slave Leia" title has been broadly purged from canon and merchandise starting back in 2015. It's referred to as a "dancing girl outfit" or "bronzium harness" now. And apparently official presentations of Leia in that outfit are presently canonized as "Huttslayer" instead of "Slave Leia", so I can see where confusion might arise from younger fans.

Part of Disney's family-friendly brand cleaning after the acquisition in 2012 - I'd imagine 2015 is just how long it took them to jump through the legal and design hoops to make their own version of that doll (probably one of the first with old faces that they pulled into new lines - they weren't going to skip out on having that design lining their pockets for long) and they almost definitely didn't want the term "Slave" appearing on the same package as the Disney logo.

From what I've read, the whole effort wasn't sanitizing away slavery (as that's still a big part of the SW lore) but rather about empowering Leia. So that her arguably most famous outfit isn't about being a sex object and a damsel in distress, but that she was her own character who killed her aggressor with the chains he tried to bind her with. Which Carrie was very much down with given her long-standing and often-stated hatred of that outfit and the "slug who forced her to wear it".

lol why are you getting downvoted? Your statements are both correct. Boba Fett's ship is still canonically named Slave I (in that it hasn't been renamed within the canon specifically), but it's been explicitly forbidden to call it that since 2021 in media and merchandising.
