Science.
Using proprietary machines similar to 3D printers they are able to essentially print magnetic fields, or in other words Maxels, onto blank magnets.
This is what a conventional magnet looks like.
This greenish paper stuff is called Magnetic Viewing Film. It shows the transitions between the North and South magnetic fields.
This is what the Spring looks like.
With this method you can print both North and South fields on the same surface. Achieving tighter magnetic fields that both reduce interference and create a stronger bond between the magnet and whatever material you're sticking it to.
