Homemade Stove

Backyard test of my new wood burning DIY stove!

I started with a silverware drainer from Ikea, they're a couple bucks. I got mine on Amazon for a little more because I don't live close enough to make the trip worthwhile.

I cut out the notch I drew in using a cutoff wheel, then strung some welding rod through the top set of holes and tied them off tight using a pair of pliers, then cut off and smoothed out the excess.

Use sandpaper or a file/stone to clean up the edge so you don't cut yourself.

The bottom is done with socket head cap screws with a washer and a nut. This gives me a raised platform is I set it on wood, and gives me something to stake it into the ground with if I do not have a solid base.

The container is incredibly stable with the very slightly flexible welding rod. I think it conforms to the shape and helps balance the load. Much more stable than I expected.

I got to use my new hatchet to cut up some wood I had laying around :)

I also tried my dehydrated vegetables for the first time!
