“I can’t say too much – again, it’s early days still – but to have this opportunity to bring it to the screen and be at the tiller so it can be faithful is key to me,” said Cavill. “This is the stuff I’ve been dealing with since I was a kid. This is sort of the stuff I spent my free time day dreaming about, as an adult as well, and I get to bring it into life, and there is no greater reason that I joined the industry than doing something like this.”

Wonder if he’s going to play Roboute or Roboute.

I friggin love the Riddick series from Vin Diesel so I've got high hopes. Stuff just hits so much better when you can feel the passion in it

*too much

Amazon please don't fuck this up

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

if its just him dramatically reading the horus herasy novels and playing with his own miniatures to re-enact the battles i am 100% all over it

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I can’t wait for him to done with Hollywood and tell it all.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Given Games Workshops track record with their IP, I'll be amazed if it isn't a dumpster fire.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's too bad it'll be on Amazon. I quit Amazon since they wanted to charge for ad-free viewing. Prime is just not worth it anymore.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Would he be the Emperor, a Primarch, an Astartes...or an Ork?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Custodes! Like from early in the editions! :P

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would watch Henry Cavill just narrate for 3 hours with his own painted mini army.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

That sound like every pepreoduction meeting

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The best special features disc this side of LoTR.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Worth more than the box collection, and probably worth half an army or more.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As long as he has some influence over the project, I have high hopes. The writers messed up The Witcher so bad that I don't blame him for leaving that.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Did you actually read the books or are you basing that on the fans and games?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Please dont ruin this, please dont ruin this. Please dont add good guys. There are no good guys. Please dont ruin this. Oh, god, companys gonna get near it and ruin it.

Of all the fictional universes he could be passionate about, he has to be the passionate about the most depressing one ever...

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

People love drama though, why do you think reality tv became a thing?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can have lots of drama without being uber-depressing the way WH40K is. It's a universe completely devoid of hope, where everyone sucks in some huge way and everyone murders the fuck out of everyone else

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I assume all the action scenes will be stop motion hand painted minis.

2 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 0

I would honestly enjoy that. But cavill does all the sound effects

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So, a budget of 6 billion dollars?

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Knowing Space Marines play tabletop training scenarios using holograms, it would be neat if they had a scene playing out a scenario using models.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How about puppets?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I just pray the producers don't fuck it up. There's too much these days of trying to take something beloved and make it "unpredictable" and "new". We don't want that shit. We want exactly the way it was originally made. When it comes to still stuff, the only unpredictable aspect I need is who they cast for each roll. Being predictable is part of the excitement. Give the people what they want.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

Hopefully Games Workshop will be as protective of the IP when it comes to the show/movie as they are when it comes to fan produced animations.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Best to just go in with zero expectations. That's how I enjoyed the new Wheel of Time and Halo series. I didn't hype it up in my mind, didn't follow the development or do any research, just took it as it came and tried to enjoy it.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You want a film where the characters are all two inch tall plastic miniatures that are unable to move by themselves?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Huh? Who is this mythological "we"? Speak only for yourself, dude. I want new stories, not retreads of stuff I've already read.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fat Cavill at it again.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hope he nails it! Warhammer 40k is such an interesting and brutal universe to explore and so many have failed to properly portrait.

2 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

Ahem. ASTARTES?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hope it kicks ass and starts at least a trilogy

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

GW said they wanted to adapt the Eisenhorn trilogy into a miniseries some years ago, I hope that's the project.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Action flics and sci-fi dystopias are hot right now. 40k pretty much checks all the boxes.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Maybe a few too many. Regardless of the support the online community has for it the wider audience might think it's a bit much as people still want a good guy and there are no good guys in 40k.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think people are tired of marvel. Or tired to the constant vigilance needed to follow all the Mcu updates coming from this series etc.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hope he picks Jesper Kyd as the composer. He NAILED it with the Darktide OST.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Was Darktide good? I was considering it

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Like obviously the OST slaps now that I've clicked on that link, but

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I only enjoyed when I was playing with friends, it has the online game problem where your teammates are entirely useless or so good you can't really play the game properly

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's alright. Kind of repetitive. It's basically live service Left 4 Dead Warhammer 40K but with no versus mode.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have 1k hours in it, so... yeah. It's far from perfect tho, and the servers and performance are somehow getting worse.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Finally, a WH40K official project better than that one dude working on his own who made something so badass that Gamesworkshop hired him just so they could control his creation.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hope it doesn't go cringe like the Witcher.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 8

I'm willing to bet that the writers and producers for 40k are going to be more on board with Henry's direction. My hope is he will be willing to listen to others idea and allow for some changes. The best outcome I see is this becomes a new generation of Starship Troopers, partly satire lots of action.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He left Witcher because they deviated from the books.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

You know, he's a good looking man by any rights. But you put him in that long white Witcher hair, and I swear to god, I'd sacrifice my first born kid to have one night with him.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

He IS a person that "dirties down" real well. Most of us "cleans up" instead

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Games Workshop will have undoubtedly have a hand in this as its their IP, and everything they touch turns to gold plated turd. It people like Astartes, Occulus Imperia and Cavil (and a myriad of others who dive into and explain the lore and histories of the universe) that make the world of 40k great, and its games workshop that STRIVE to shut them down if they cant monetise it themselves. I hope it does well, but i'll not be raising my hopes past a good initial season of whatever hes producing

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I like Henry Cavill but can't stand Warhammer 40k. Like, I wish I could hate it to death. So I guess I'll wait and see whatever his next project turns out to be after this one.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 17

Hey everyone! This guy likes Erebus!

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

He's signed on to do MCU movies.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why so strongly against?

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I suppose a combination of the grimdark excess and the portion of the fans who missed that it's satire

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 7

What does it satirize

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

litterally EVERYTHING. thats why one of the best 1 line descriptions of the setting is "there are no good guys"

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Grimdark settings are hard on the soul, even if you like the tactics aspects.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

GW is a terrible company that exploits its fanbase. Also, the gameplay and models are not good when compared to other games.

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 4

Can’t argue that, the tabletop rules do feel rather dated

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Agreed. They treat their fan base like crap, jack up prices every chance they get, are super toxic, and have a history of being complete assholes for no good reason. It's worth googling their drama that never seems to end. Also, they tried to screw old Blizzard (before activision) when making Star Craft (originally was going to be a Warhammer game) and so Blizzard reworked the game to remove all Warhammer references and it became a huge it. GW screwed themselves out of Star Craft

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Plus, their tabletop is just super unbalanced with a huge Space Marine bias. Personally, I think Privateer Press' Warmachine/Hordes tabletop is better from the gameplay, to the models, to the company attitude. Their old models weren't that good but the new stuff is great and comes with magnetic parts to convert units. Much more cost effective and build friendly.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Speaking as someone who started playing in 2nd edition (around 1997?), GW *did* have the best-in-the-business models in that day and age, especially in terms of consistency. However, that competition has now outcompeted GW but GW still prices itself like it's the cream of the crop. The business model went to shit in the late 90s when shifted away from customer loyalty, and instead started prioritizing quick sales on kids who'd lose interest after blowing their entire allowance for 6 months.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I feel like CC is a bit too "deconstructive" for the first live-action show. It needs to come after something like Gaunt's Ghosts.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

With Cavill's chiseled jaw line you just know he's gonna be some sorta Astartes, more than likely an Ultramarine as they seem to have the widest market appeal. I'd love a show from the perspective of a lowly grunt in the trench lines personally. Though it would probably make a very short series. Or a show about a human alpha legion operative, full of mind bending twists and century planning turns.

I never realised before that that's a drawing of John Blanche

The best part of his story is when all the clues he follows eventually leads him to discover the demon behind all the corruption in his sector, the great and terrible Darth Rita Repulsa Voldemort.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

The thing that always cracks me up is how so much of early 40k was fanfiction-tier stuff and with the progression of a handful of notable really good books and series, a lot of the writing is still fanfiction tier.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The astonishing thing for me is that they made an RPG set in their own fantasy world, and players adapted it to be a battle game, so they devloped a battle game set in the same world and it massively outsold the RPG. So when they had the idea of a futuristic version, they made an RPG that could be played as a battle game, NOT A BATTLE GAME.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Kremlo came from Spaaace!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The problem with adapting 40k is that if you are indeed true to the source material, this will necessarily have to be for a mature audience. This is something producers try to avoid at all cost, as it often means fewer revenues. Entire movies have been butchered by producers in post-production to avoid that. Max Payne comes to mind.

2 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 2

It's Amazon financing it. They're not that skittish about such things.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, 40k itself is pretty far away from "grimdark" anymore since it has to pushed for a global all-ages audience. All it really has anymore is the violence, which sells just fine.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

the problem with adapting 40k and staying true to the source material is that it would be incredibly alienating for the vast amount of fans that have forgotten or never understood that it was meant as ridiculous parody.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

You're absolutely correct. That's why other Amazon shows like The Boys and all its spin-offs were totally watered down for the wider audience and definitely didn't contain *checks notes* a guy with a two feet dick, blowing up a guy by sticking explosives up his ass, blowing up a guy by exploding his penis and killing and maiming tons of people in every graphic way possible.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Haha omg what a scene, good point.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

they definitely toned down aspects of The Boys, specially Herogasm, because there ARE limits and the og comic was kind of unnecessarily dick-ish

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've read the comics. I think they're too over the top and the show managed to find a better tone.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Eh, I think hard-R pop culture movies have plenty of runway these days. Deadpool, Logan, Joker, It, 300, John Wick, Fury Road, etc. WH40k has a pretty large built-in fanbase, and Cavill is an inspired choice because he's got tons of name ID and even non-40k nerds love him. I think a 40k movie could succeed if it's approached like Dune: serious, grounded, but epic in scope. Leave the camp on the cutting room floor.

2 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Absolutely perfectly said

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Couldn't disagree more. The camp is a huge part of Warhammer 40k. It's what elevates the entire franchise. One of the best stories they could adapt as an entry point would be the Cain stories and if you take the camp from that then you'd miss out so much. A lot of the wider TV-watching audience would be put off by going too dark with a new franchise as well. I'd like to see Eisenhorn someday but Cain would be a much better beginning imo.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I absolutely disagree. Dune, despite being released in one of the worst moviegoing periods in modern history, was a box office hit, and took itself very seriously. Not to mention most of the moviegoing public wasn't put off by how dark it was, or how obscure, despite the movie leaning hard into the more opaque details of the setting. A similar approach could absolutely work for 40k. To lean into the camp would, potentially, cause it to feel like Waterworld, or worse, Jupiter Ascending.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I'm sorry but what is "the camp" ? English isn't my native language, I mostly know war40K through my own language.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unless they’re doing a Brutal Kunnin movie (which would be incredible) I want it to be serious and grounded like you said. There’s going to be plenty of camp no matter what if you include ultramarines, no need to try and add more.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm not saying to lean into the camp; just not remove it entirely. Warhammer IS campy. To remove the camp would be to make it not Warhammer anymore. Warhammer fundamentally, at the core lore level, doesn't take itself too seriously. Like, for example, the Orks are a horrific race. But also they're funny boys who have machines that move faster when painted red because they think that's how it ought to be. They're just having the times of their lives.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and female space marines.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think that some arch dude on yt May have some harsh things to say about this.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Faithful is great, but you also need to create compelling entertainment that appeals to a wide audience. The Marvel movies are a good example of this.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

1st edition lore was also responsible for these glorious gentlemen:

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

This is also why i want Cavill to be a First Edition Custode.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

i wish Warhammer 40k was less toxic and fewer nazis in the fandom. its like staarship troopers or colbert report half the group knows its satire the other half suck.

2 years ago | Likes 127 Dislikes 21

I've noticed a lot of 88s in the magic arena user names. And I'm not sure if it is just a bunch of people who were born in 88 or a bunch of nazisimps, but I'm pretty sure I'm embarrassed for my hobby and Warhammer felt the same way.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, the asshats who claim to know the lore best are usually the ones who understand it least.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yet to see any of these supposed 40k nazis in real life, yet I have certainly seen some really bizarre things, like Ukrainian regiments named after Khorne, shouting blood for the blood god and all that jazz while flying fpv drones into Russian bunkers. They get paranoid when they dont get any successful strikes as that's then inviting Russian artillery back on them "Khorne doesn't care whose blood it is, he has to be appeased". Soldiers are a superstitious lot. Hromadske interview I think it was

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer40k/s/h8uyMTmjNb <-- funny, I was just reading this and fondly remembering the good old days

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think the Nazis are very loud and usually very casually associated with the hobby. They have co-opted the imagery like they have with old Nordic runes.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I've only ever played one game and painted a single space marine, but I adore how creative and different 40k is.. I wouldn't want to stomp into a fandom and tell people what they can and can't enjoy, and I certainly wouldn't tar all 40k fans with the same brush. That being said, there can be some really sketchy people in your local games workshop and the wider fandom doesn't seem to really get why its so problematic. I dont think people necessarily reflect on what it is they really like about it

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Certainly less toxicity in any fandom is better but from my experience, it's no more than any other fandom. If you go looking for them you'll certainly find them but most people I've met who plays or are into 40k are perfectly normal people.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I've played a fair bit, local games shops and tournaments, never met an overt Nazi. Not that anyone would introduce themselves as such. About half of the folks I met were under 20 and really just there to play and look at models. I suspect the vast majority of fascist shit is just online, still gross but I don't really engage in those spaces.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

That being said most of my time playing with others was years ago and I've played like once since COVID. It could have gotten a lot worse and this is just my experience.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The toxic/nazi thing is imo very overblown. Sure, there's cunts in the hobby but there's cunts in every hobby.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Virtually no nazis in the actual hobby. It's just a lot of vocal trolls and tourist that are to inept to see that it's parodying them.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I go to at least a few tournaments per year and there is a robust/thriving gamer community in town and have never once seen the warhammer Nazis. The only fascists I see are little plastic dudes on the table.

2 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 3

How do you know someone isn't a nazi by looking at them? You realize these people are good at smiling and being nice, right? They don't recruit by being evil. Even Hitler was charismatic af.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are a sizeable and loud group of fascists that are into 40K, but in my experience (which is rather limited when it comes to playing that particular game) the many of them seem to be terminally online weirdos and a good number of them don't own a single figure. They're in it for the lore. And they treat the lore as fucking sacred writing yet at the same time they don't seem to understand it very well or even know much of it.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I suppose you also think that Lemmy just liked the nazi aesthetic.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The problem is WAY overstated by some people imo. Most of the community isn’t like that and will rapidly tell the ones who are to fuck right off

2 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 2

I feel like there was one asshole at a tournament years ago wearing Nazi flare and dubiously painted minis and Games Workshop made that public statement telling those people to fuck of, and now the internet busy bodies cling to that publicized example while conflating awkward nerds lacking social skills or prickish incels with the actual literal white power crowd.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The reason so many overstate the issue is that they are the ones most negatively affected by it, yes collectively we DO indeed outnumber the hardcore gate-keeping pricks, but unfortunately it doesn't take many of them to cause strife and havoc!

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Also, tolerating any Nazis is how you get more Nazis. Best to make sure they know how pathetic and undesirable they are whenever possible.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Indeed! They're like cockroaches that infest an area unless promptly dealt with.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think the most well known example of a nazi showing up to a tournament is the guy calling himself "austrian painter" in Spain, who showed up wearing neonazi symbols and prompted GW to take a stance against bigotry a couple of years ago. IIRC he placed rather decently too because several of his opponents refused to play him so that counted as them forfeiting the games and him recieving full scores. Spanish laws apparently prevented the organizer from booting him out.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

If you go on warhammer 40k videos on youtube (or just google it) there are the occasional trumpers that likes to pretend Trump is the Emperor. It's.. weird.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The whole Trump as emperor got started on 4chan and is so fitting. If you dont know 40k, you would think humanity is the good guys and big E is the leader. But if you actually know 40k then you understand that that's absolutely not the fucking case.
Sadly that whole thing got picked up by mainstream media as a sign that the 40k random is full of trumpers and nazis

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been to hobby stores all over the US (used to travel for work), and my experience as a white woman were definitely mixed. Many places were great, but even some of the good shops had that one guy who was a bit of a sexist dick (though judging by their reputations, they would've been a jackass of any flavor). One time I did get spit on at a store in the south and the owner took a "boys will be boys" stance, so I never went back. But most of the time, yes, I did feel that I had to "prove"

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

that I knew how to play the game. Usually better than the regulars, especially since they liked to play "kill everything" instead of objectives/missions.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm sure it depends where you go. i made some friends at a local game shop and more than a few turned into this women suck and should be breeding and the world should be run by the smart people also black people aren't. kinda bullshit like that. its sad cause i love my little orc chaos army but i didn't want to hang out with them and its like well i guess i'll just stop.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Has it occured to you, that this may be a general problem in your local population, rather than just existing in that specific niche?

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Sure Let me detail every event of my life and every time i've tried to enter the fandom or participate in it. come on thats silly. there is a significant part of the fandom that douchey no denying that. the amount is up in the air for sure my experience has been 50/50 which is more than enough to not participate in at least the group based games and instead focus on singel player games.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Sounds like you've just had bad dice rolls my friend, or it's a yank problem. Over here in northern Europe, I've yet to meet any (at least openly) politically extremist 40k nerd.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I was about to ask a related question: As a complete nongamer, is there any way a Warhammer adaptation could be interesting ? I mean it's no less surprising than going to see the Dune movie while not having read the book. If the movie relies too much on knowledge/tropes from the book/VG, then it's not standing on its own.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It depends where he starts his story telling. 40k you can drop in almost anywhere. Horus heresy you need to start at the beginning

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Second comment: I recognize you say you are a "non-gamer", but if yoy want a great example of how this could be pulled off in the way I described, look up WH40K: Dawn of War. That game does a fantastic job of telling a contained story that fits the scale and action of the setting while still being accessible for newcomers. I know this because it was my gateway to the IP.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's quite a bit. 40k isn't all about massive battles. There's lots of intrigue and small scale conflict, plenty of opportunities to show characters. If Cavil plays a Space Marine, though, that...significantly limits what can be done from a narrative perspective (which is funny, because that's the same problem 40k overall has).

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i think it will be okay the game is mostly lore driven, there are a lot of specific characters with their own story but in general humans are run by the emperor and super xenophobe, orcs are a fungus infestation that like fighting, and chaos are just sexually kinky.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It depends on the story they have, honestly. The Cain series, if they adapt it, would be a great intro. It basically follows a guy who graduates aiming for a comfy life and who gets flung around by a series of events where he simply tries to survive. Through misunderstandings he becomes known as a hero. It's often likened to Blackadder.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes, it absolutely could be. Watch Hammer and Bolter for example.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was wondering the same about Halo since I never played the games, but it turned out to be a great show with enough worldbuilding for the uninitiated. Kind of sets the bar for future game franchise to TV adaptations.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know a LOT of people who disagree with you.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Really? When I look at the negative reviews all I see are fans of the games who complain that Kwan Ha exists. Meanwhile, I'm sad they've relegated her to the sidelines in season 2, maybe as a result of the negative feedback. Or maybe she's no longer needed now that Master Chief is becoming a real boy. The unequal cop duo routine was a great way to humanize him in season 1, but I've come to like Kwan Ha's character and the writers seem to be at a loss what to do with her now.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The general consensus is that the Halo TV show is barely related aside from a few characters and is its own generic Sci fi story. I don't know any halo fans (personally) who enjoy it. Personally I don't like Halo to begin with but I am friends with a fair number of people who love it (the games).

I think it needs to take the Andor approach. Do not make a "Warhammer Show", make a show that is in the Warhammer setting. 40k is at its best as a setting, not as an overall continuous plot. Keep the plot container, and the scale small (by Warhammer standards), and it should be good. If they try to tell the entire story of the imperium and chaos and all that shit, it'll be terrible.

I 100% think you’re right and that’s what needs to be done. The setting is vast specifically so anyone can make any story and it all somehow work. But that said, some books would also be ok I think. You could definitely make Nemesis into a solid miniseries.

I'm sure you could do well with some of the books, but then again it just comes back around to "a story within the setting and not the setting itself."

Yeah, this and the general cost are my biggest concerns about it hitting big.

Henry Cavill is basically a nerd trapped in a models body. He cares so much, maybe to much for modern Hollywood. Just look at Witcher which he left because they strayed from the source-material.

They should have listened, but no, they decided they knew better, and The Witcher immediately lost the public's interest.

And the worst part is that Hollywood still doesnt realize it. If they would understand what a freakin gold mine such a dude would be, they would write him a blanko check for whatever the fuck he wanted to do.

I think we should just elect him as king nerd and be done with it. And bring back prima nocta.

He left? Thought his contract was terminated?

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Most actors say they left for reasons such as those he stated, when in reality, it is usually about the money. Not saying that's him, but it is extremely likely.

Cavill could be the next Schwarzenegger or Stalone if hollywood would just let him. You know the kind of actor that defines the role he's in like Terminator or Rambo.

Season 1 and 3 are as close to source material as you can get without it being weirdly boring. As much as I like Cavil, him being cut out of Witcher and Superman in the same week means something else was going on aside from him "standing his ground".

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Didn't he just leave so he could do another movie

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm pretty sure he left due to a conflict in schedule in filming for Superman. Later on the director said Cavill wasn't a part of his "vision" for Superman. By that time he already gave up his position for Geralt, and they gave it to Hemsworth.

I could be wrong but that was my gathering of it. No source, unfortunately.

Nerds and models are not inherently separate beings.

Yea Karlie Kloss runs an organization called Kode with Klossy. https://www.kodewithklossy.com/

Ha. Double entendré. Any Warhammer fan is all too familiar with the models.

Ya, just a shame most of us have chosen Plaguebearer over The Sanguinor.

Directors and like to add their artistic spin on things. Sometimes people like it, and other times, you upset a fan base over any detail that strays from the original work, or adds new content that alters the universe.

Star wars.

Yeah and this is exactly why I avoid fandoms.

Let's be real, the Warhammer offer was definitely a factor but he couldn't say because of NDA. He'd always said he would drop everything for a Warhammer adaptation and then overnight dropped every last one of his commitments like it wasn't a dead giveaway XD

2 years ago | Likes 91 Dislikes 5

He didnt drop the witcher or superman they dropped him

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 5

Or did he get himself fired so he didn't get penalties for breaching his contracts to Warhammer?

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

No, he dropped Witcher to be picked up again as Superman, then James Gunn took over and dropped him as Superman leaving him kind of up a creek, which is presumably when someone came along with the offer for 40k, because, y'know, kind of the perfect confluence.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Honestly him getting dropped from Superman was a big WTF moment for me. The writing may have been trash, but i enjoyed him in the role.
