Well, it did make a nice curl.

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a curling iron.

or, and hear me out, cut the hair and avoid the risk of accidentaly caving her head in.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

JFC put it on the ground and bash it, or is that pretty face too good to be near the floor because that tracks inversely with this level of stupidity.

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Should we protect her head before we start swinging a hammer next to it? Nah, fuck it, once we free her hair, then we'll protect her head. jfc

11 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Just cut the hair - the strands that got sucked into the dryer are going to be completely fucked anyway.

11 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

For real.I dont know that much about hair, but fan blade like that would've absolutely shredded it. Surely that isn't fixable

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It’s not a fan blade, it’s a curler. This pulls it in and wraps it around a warm post, then opens and releases the curled hair. These have been known to jam though.

Aaah, then I've got no idea

Percussive maintenance

Guess none of these geniuses had Swiss Army knife to disassemble the sucker with a screwdriver and/or Phillips head

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So how many of these do women go through to do their whole head of hair?

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is satisfying a very specific set of kinks for someone, I just know it.

A booster to my baldness. Wait till we get AI hair dryers.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This scenario is precisely is what I imagined what would happen when I saw those air curlers advertised

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Have none of these people ever heard of a screwdriver?

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So. i actually got my hair stuck in a tool once. (Dremel, always tie your hair back folks). thing is, there is the initial panic, but thats NOT HELPFUL. the best thing to do is (after the tool is immediately powered off). 1: start by trying to gently pull the hair out, grab hair near roots to stabilize the scalp, then with other hand gently pull from machine (a second person helps a lot here) if it was rotary, it will likely slowly come undone. if this fails, attack the machine *carefully*>

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

with a screwdriver and spuddger pry tool, to carefully disassemble it and allow safe removal of the hair. the tool will likely survive, and you have a 100% lower chance of catching an involuntary/negligent homicide charge for braining your friend with a hammer.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

When a screwdriver requires too much patience, hammer away!

Like just unscrewing it.

Lots of appliance no longer offer that option, being snap-fit together with plastic hook-tabs, the exact location of which becomes impossible to discern once the parts are snapped into place. Not saying it's always the case, but I have encountered this exact problem multiple times on plastic shell appliances in the recent decade. They WANT you to buy a new one, not fix it. So they don't make it possible for the average customer to take it apart.

11 months ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 1

Most appliances are cheap because of the snap together feature which minimizes labor cost. Nobody supports the products due to many reasons like, it’s cheaper to buy one, there are so many brands it’s impossible to stock all the parts needed, we are a disposable society to name a few.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I went through 2 toaster ovens I couldn't fix. Cause the melting plastic fan inside was incased . Mother fuckers

11 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

At this point I just look for old appliances in thrift stores because fuck it, I'm not buying a new one I'm gonna have to throw away 3days after the warranty expires.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

On top of that: They might simply not have any screwdrivers there, but had a hammer. I can't help but feel that all the highly upvoted "so much stupidity" comments betray imgurs deep seated misogyny.

11 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Most places aren't far from a store that sells screwdrivers.
If my hair was stuck in something like that, I would happily wait and pay for someone to go buy one.
As that would be less traumatic, less risk for injury, and way less painful from having your hair pulled hard from each hammer blow.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Agreed.

It's easier to jump to a conclusion than it is to assume all other possible solutions had already been exhausted.

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You can literally see a hole for a screw when they move it around.

11 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

I've tried taking hair appliances apart before. Even when there's screws, most of the housing is still held by fragile plastic tabs.

11 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

God forbid you break the plastic tabs by hand instead of swinging a hammer 3 inches from a human beings head to obliterates the whole body of the hair appliance. Fragile plastic tabs are exactly something I could handle in a situation like this without needing a hammer.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Well, not THAT fragile. What I meant to say is the only way to open it is to break those tabs, and even then I needed 2 pliers to force it open. I imagine these hairdressers didn't have pliers.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There were four of those tunnels, one on each corner of the jammed paper shredder I tried to open. Of course, they had to be screws, right? So I tried unscrewing them with a Phillips head, then when that didn't work, I tried a flathead screwdriver. When that failed, I shined a flashlight in them to see what the problem was.
Do you know what was at the bottom of those holes?

Rivets.

11 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Then you get a drill bit out and drill out the rivets as the engineering gods expected. If it's a medical emergency, or mild medical panic moment like in this video, call the fire department. They respond to calls like this all the time. They know how to handle it.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 7

Surely the fire department would mash the thing like they did in the video?

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah I was at work, an office job, so it became the boss's problem.
Fuck it. Replace unit. Petty cash $40.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Some real Neanderthal levels of problem solving. "But did you try smashing it with a hammer?"

11 months ago | Likes 97 Dislikes 3

They couldn't even do that correctly!

I want to believe they didn't have the proper type of screw driver but...

That was the first thing I thought of, no way having short hair for a while could have been less traumatic than this....

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

fortunately it worked out, but I wouldn't want hair dressers swinging a hammer near my head. just cut the dang hair.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't believe you... someone told me that about my hand when I got it stuck in a soda machine... Luckily I forgot I was holding onto the can in there and could take my hand out anytime I wanted.
