So their owner intentionally annoys her for internet points. It's unfortunate Brutus isn't the bitey type. Not cool.

When my son was about 2, we all went out to a restaurant that brought a plate of lemon slices for our drinks. He reached out, put one in his mouth, made a face, took it out. Then, like 30 sec later, did it again. Repeated multiple times, at varying intervals. I wish we had video - it was much funnier to watch than describe

My daughter did this with a pickle. Refused to give it up. Still a pickle fiend. Shes 22 now.

Babies and toddlers are nature’s perfect scientists.

My wife and I tried to film the thing where you give the toddler a couple orange slices and then do a lemon slice just to see their reaction, but he just mowed down on the lemon slice like it was the best thing ever. He's 9 now and hates lemons, lol.

My son did the exact same thing, and it's one of my favorite memories of him as a baby! No video, but at least my husband & mom were there to see it, too.

My son insisted on eating a lime when we went out one time when he was about 3 yo. He did not have a good time with it lol.

I have eaten entire limes in front of my friends. Watching their reaction the first time I did it always brought me so much joy.

So uh, just so everyone knows, citrus is toxic to cats. Please don't do this

1 year ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 2

Just as a note for others. Lemons are toxic only in large amounts, they'd have to eat the whole thing, licking the lemon once won't do anything (unless they're predisposed to like lemons then you could be setting them on a very dangerous path). You don't need to rush them to a vet if they lick lemon pulp once. The more dangerous parts of a lemon for a cat are the seeds and oils in the skin. Unpeeled lemons are more dangerous and should be kept out of reach from a cat.

Citrus is toxic to most animals. Humans are just very good at eating poisonous plants. Not quite at the level of koalas, howler monkeys, colobus monkeys, or monarch butterfly caterpillars, but way beyond most animals that aren't specialists in one particular kind of poisonous plant.

We can eat most plants because we've been omnivores for so long. Cats and dogs, however, were carnivores pretty much that whole time.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's not just that. Lots of long-evolved herbivores can't eat the kinds of plant poisons we love to eat. Horses for example can't eat horseradish, cacao, coffee, avocado, maple syrup, aloe, anything in the plum family, anything in the onion family, hemp, mint, watercress, parsley, rosemary, and much more that we love. Cows can't eat anything in the mustard family like broccoli, anything in the onion family, anything in the plum family, chocolate, and more.

skill issue, idk

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd argue that we're actually on par with those animals, because they can only eat the one toxin, but we can eat loads of toxins.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm also not sure that any animal that's affected by capsaicin, has beaten the human record for carolina reaper peppers eaten etc., so we might also be #1 at that toxin at least.

There's probably some ridiculous dog that's tried it. Those dogs that do things like repeatedly eat bees.
