My favourite star-ships, and some information about each one.

I'm excluding fighters, and i'm excluding ground units such as the M-44 Hammerhead and the Tomkah. There are plenty of those too, however. I've also not included the Salarian Navy, because they're really not that worth-mentioning to be completely honest. So basically, if the ship can go into space, and I felt that it deserved a spot in this post - it's here.

There are no gunships. A-61 Mantis Gunship is not on this list. There is no UT-47 Kodiak, there are only the best of the best (In my eyes)

OH! SPOILER ALERT! I will label the parts with spoilers in them with the tag: [YOU SHOULD GO].

Alliance Alamo-class Frigate

The role of a frigate in the any navy is to perform reconnaissance and communications. IT measures 236 meters in length, and has a top of the line GARDIAN communications sytem.

Alliance York-class Cruisers

The most abundant military star-ship in the System Alliance navy, the Geneva-class cruiser packs a bigger punch than a frigate, but has much more maneuverability than a dreadnought. The Geneva-class cruiser measures just over 700 meters long, and plays mostly a support role in naval combat.

Along with the York-class cruisers are the Geneva-class cruisers. The main difference between the two cruisers are the front ends. The Geneva class cruiser's tip is much smaller, and has a sleeker design. Asides from the front, there is very little difference in appearance.

Notable Geneva-class cruisers are:
- SSV Geneva (Class Leader)
- SSV Tokyo
- SSV London

The SSV Tokyo was the former posting of Engineer Adams, and formerly captained by Admiral David Anderson.

Alliance Berlin-class Cruiser

Measures at 650 meters long. This ship has a larger, more exposed cannon in comparison to the other Alliance cruisers. The Berlin-class cruiser would mostly be used as a long ranged artillery unit in conflict.

Alliance Kilimanjaro-class Dreadnought

The most current, and most advanced dreadnought commissioned by the Alliance Navy. An interesting fact about this class, is that the class leader, the SSV Kilimanjaro, is captained by Commander Shepard's mother, Hannah Shepard. These dreadnoughts are fitted with the heaviest weaponry the ALliance has to offer, and measures 1 kilometre in length.

Notable Kilimanjaro-class dreadnoughts are:
- SSV Kilimanjaro (Class Leader)
- SSV Aconcagua
- SSV Logan
- SSV Orizaba
- SSV Shasta
- SSV Tai Shan

The older, but still commissioned Alliance dreadnought, Everest-class Dreadnought, has been surpassed by the Kilimanjaro-class dreadnought.

Notable Everest-class dreadnoughts are:
- SSV Everest (Class Leader)
- SSV Elbrus
- SSV Fuji

Vol Protectorate Kwunu-class Dreadnought

The only dreadnought ever produced by the Volus. The main battery consists of multiple Thanix Magnetic-Hydrodynamic Weapons. This ship is kind of a wildcard on this list. It really isn't that well known, and was only mentioned once in the entire trilogy. I just figured that the Volus deserved a spot on here. They work so hard and just don't get enough recognition.

Turian Cruiser

This cruiser is the backbone of the world's strongest military force, the Turian empire.

Asari Union Cybaen-class Heavy Cruiser

A 600 meter long monster warship commissioned by the Asari Union. A mix-up during the cruiser's construction left it with an unusually large drive core so engineers redesigned the ship around the excessive power source.

Asari Union Destiny Ascension

The council flagship for the Asari, the Destiny Ascension measures in at 1.2 kilometers in length, and apparently has as much firepower as the entirety of the Asari fleet combined. The Destiny Ascension is one of the most powerful dreadnoughts in council space.

The Quarian Fleet

The Quarian, as a species, has no home-world. The entirety of the species lives as a part of the Migrant fleet, which contains over 50,000 spacecraft, and holds roughly 17 million Quarians. The fleet is also known as the "Flotilla". Three 2.81 kilometer long live-ships house a large amount of the Quarian population. The three live-ships are the "Rayya", the "Shellen", and another unnamed live-ship. A majority of the fleet consist of Quarian envoy ships and frigates. These frigates are relatively lightly armed, but do have some combat-capabilities. Most of the Navy warships consist of Decommissioned Batarian cruisers, such as the Hensa-class light cruiser.

Quarian Envoy Ship

Geth Dreadnought

measuring 1.2 kilometers long, the Geth Dreadnought is a spectacle of engineering. According to Legion, no Geth ships have windows. Windows are a "structural weakness" and because the Geth are a sentient-robot race, they have other ways of knowing what is going on outside. The Geth cruiser is 700 meters in length, and is basically a smalelr version of the Dreadnought.

Geth heretic Station

[YOU SHOULD GO]

The damned thing is 20.5 kilometers tall. It's Geth. It's got no windows. It has an uncounntable amount of automated defense systems. It's sensor technology is far superior to every specie since the Protheans... It's practically an impenetrable fortress. These walls cannot be breached ... Unless you're Commander Shepard of the Normandy - then anything is possible.

The Collector Base

[YOU SHOULD GO]

And a Collector Heavy Cruiser for scale! The Cruiser is 1.9 kilometers in length, while the base is 11.8 kilometers in length. The main battery on the cruiser is shown on multiple occasions to be strong as hell. The base is lightly armed as a-matter-of-fact... The bases main offense is a good defense. The collectors use small scouting pods, the cruisers, and it hides in a debris field that can only be accessed through the Omega-4 relay.

Destroyer-class Reaper

[YOU SHOULD GO]

Significantly smaller than other Reaper capital ships, but still stands at 160 meters tall. Despite their size, their powerful main gun proves to be quite capable of annihilating ships within seconds. Shepard's first encounter with this Reaper is on Tuchanka, the Krogan home-world. Shepard lures the mother-of-all Thresher Maws, Kalros, whom measures just below 3000 meters long, to destroy the Reaper.

Harbinger-class Reaper

[YOU SHOULD GO]

The front of the attack for the Reapers, the Harbinger-class is an immensely powerful dreadnought, capable of killing thousands with just one attack. They're tough bastards, and are the first Reapers to initiate conflict with council space after Sovereign's visit.

Normandy SR1

Codex puts it best:

"The Normandy is a prototype starship, developed by the human Systems Alliance with the assistance of the Citadel Council. It is optimized for scouting and reconnaissance missions in unstable regions, using state-of-the-art stealth technology."

Normandy SR2

[YOU SHOULD GO]

The SR1 was just a prototype ship, and usually prototypes, after tests, the developer decides whether or not it's best to mass-produce them, or just scrap the idea. It's not every day that a prototype ship proves amazing, and then isn't made a second time by the developer. One would think that the Alliance would build the Normandy to replace the current frigates, right? The ship is obviously superior to the Alamo.
Nope. Systems Alliance never made another. You know who did make another? Cerberus did. The bad guys. The guys on the other side of the law. After Commander Shepard's death when encountering the first Collector ship, Cerberus put great sums of money and resources into the Lazarus Project, and creating the Normandy SR2, a retrofitted version of the SR1. Much of the ship's interior is the same as the SR1, and whatever is different, is an improvement. To top it all off, the ships is equipped with an AI called EDI.
After the events of ME2, the ship was taken by the Alliance, and captained by Admiral Anderson, until once again reunited with Shepard. It was stated in ME3 that Admiral Hackett had actually planned on using the ship as his own personal command ship, but figured it would be better off with Shepard under the given circumstances. The circumstances I mention are: REAPERS: the near extinction of the entire human race, and every other species part of the current cycle as well...

The SR1 wasroughly 155 meters long, while the SR2 was roughly 126 meters long. Both were flown by Joker.

The SR2 during the fight for Earth.

The Citedal

I figured ending the Trilogy list off with the Citadel was a good idea. Asides from the Normandy, it's fair to say that this massive craft is the best known in the Mass Effect universe. The ship's total length while open is 44 kilometers, and it's diameter is 12.8 kilometers. The citadel's population is roughly 13.8 million, not including the Keepers, the insectoid-like species that performs maintenance on the citadel.

[YOU SHOULD GO]

The Citadel was thought to of been created by the long-extinct Protheans (excluding Javik). However, both the Citadel and the Mass Relays were deceptively created by... Yeah... No... I've spoiled quite a bit in this post already for non-ME players. Just in case there's a person reading this not familiar with the game, I better not say that... Kinda a huge spoiler...

The Citadel has simulated gravity, housing and water-cleaning systems. Not unlike the Quarian live-ships, the Citadel is capable of sustaining life on it's own.

The Tempest

Mass Effect: Andromeda... Who can wait? I certainly can't. the game has already begun advertising the protagonist's new ship. The new ship is called the Tempest. The M-9 tempest is a submachine gun that fires in long bursts. It's one of the fastest shooting guns in the game, just behind the N7 Hurricane. One can acquire it by--- No. Wait. This isn't right.

The Tempest

That's more like it.
I like it personally. It's sleek, much like the Normandy, but it appears to be smaller? I'm not sure. tell me what y'all think!

The Tempest And...

I assume Ryder.

According to an article written by PCGAMER, there will be no more loading screens while onboard the ship.

On December 1, you'll get a first look at Mass Effect: Andromeda gameplay at @thegameawards.

GUYS I CAN'T WAIT CAN YOU NO OF COURSE YOU CAN'T OH LORD HELP ME

More Info

This video is a orientation briefing for the "Andromeda Initiative. It gives a glimpse of some other new ships that will be in Mass Effect: Andromeda. This includes the Ark, and the Hyperion.

Side note: Omega, Grissom Academy, Cronos station, Mass Effect Relays, The Crucible, Lazarus station, Arcturus station, Shadow Broker station were not mention because they are stations, and/or play a crucial role in ME2 - ME3. I had to spoil certain parts, especially ME1 in this list, but I figured it made the list sound better.

So much hype, but between the ME3 ending and the NS hype, I'm waiting for the reviews before jumping on.

SR2 is about 33% bigger and twice the mass of SR1

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shouldn't the first Kilimanjaro-class dreadnought be the SSV Kilimanjaro?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My mistake. I was thinking Everest-class. I'll change it when I'm not on mobile.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh boy Mass Effect is my fav sci-fi series

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This post was very enjoyable. I knew a lot but learned a bunch of stuff to. Andromeda hype!

I'm Garrus Vakarian and I approve of this post.

You get updoots on the basis that this is a Mass Effect post alone.

:)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh man, so much fan promo recently! I spend most of my time in the Tempest, it's lovely :3

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

@OP Alamo frigates don't have advanced GARIAN communications, they have advanced GUARDIAN point defense systems. GARIAN doesn't exist.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ugh. I realize that... I'd like to blame autocorrect but I'm pretty sure GARIAN isnt a word either. Mistyped... It's just GARDIAN btw.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks for pointing it out though. Ill change it when I'm not on mobile.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, no problem. Only reason I noticed was I was actually trolling thru ME 2 today and noticed the discrepancy. Great Post otherwise btw

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

where should I go?

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

To Andromeda.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Oh ok. I will. It looks good.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah, I finished 1 and 2 but never got around to finishing 3. Did I miss much?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I find this post fitting, since that I've been replaying the trilogy for the past few days.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I have been too! Going paragon this time.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been playing it for the first time. It's fucking awesome. I just finished 2 yesterday.

TLDR=: LO[ADS OF SICK SHIT IN SPACE

Heh more or less.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You forgot the Quarian ships Vas Defrans and Vas Ectomy

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Didn't read, too busy doing calibrations, come back later.

9 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

I've always loved that design of Alliance ships. They're blocky, but functional, and have their weapons bared for all to see.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've never played any of the story, but I thoroughly enjoyed the multiplayer in ME3

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you for doing this, Mass Effect is my favorite series of all time and I love learning more about it.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

No problem! I love ME too. :) There are so many ships it's crazy.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

backbone of the world's strongest military force in the galaxy

I find this post fitting, since that I've been replaying the trilogy for the past few days.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite post on The Citadel

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They're gonna Inquisition the shit out of Andromeda. I can't bring myself to get hyped for any EA games these days...

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Same worries, but I'm really hoping to be pleasantly surprised by this game's reviews when it comes out

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's EA, so most popular game reviewers will probably give it a 9/10 regardless of its actual quality :(

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Find and keep to reviewers that you know and trust. Also, there's some hope Bioware will listen to all the criticism of DA:I

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't mean to be that nerd but the SR2 was nearly twice the size of the SR1, that's why it needed an onboard shuttle.

9 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 1

SR2 was twice the mass of SR1. It could land on surfaces. It was just resource consumming

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ooh my bad. No dont feel bad. I'm a mass effect nerd and I'm just ashamed now.

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Obviously not a nerd, accept your plebage and stick withpretty pics.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

Heh. Nah I'd say I'm a nerd. I've done more play-throughs than some people have years lived.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's ok, ME is a lore heavy series, easy to forget small details

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

aaaaand then it goes for a landing on earth in ME3, contradicting lore. Again. Like everything else in ME2/ME3.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

No EDI actually specified "high gravity worlds." Earth isn't a high gravity world.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it didnt land, it hovered.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yer a wizard, harry. No, wait. Yer a dumbass. The point is that the SR2 couldn't go in atmosphere (too heavy, thus shuttle) and then it did.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ME3 sucked when it came to lore but thats what you get when you get rid of the original story writer and stick with the shitty new guy from2

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yepyep. I prefer the elevators, the mako and the unlimited ammo of the first game.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

i think the first Mass Effect was the best one, and they just got worse from there.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

They took an sci fi dragon age and made it into gears of war

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm pretty keen on the Tempest. It looks like it's going to be more wide than tall, unlike the good ol' Normandy. Looking forward to it.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Same. I'm quite fond of the design.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same. I wonder how it'll stack up lore/tech-wise versus the SR-2. Hopefully they won't make it some wündership to beat all other ships.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mass effect vs the entirety of Eve Online

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I think it would be close, the scale tipping being done by the geth

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ooh... As a Mass Effect fan, I want to say ME would win. Especially if were counting the entirety of the Reapers.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It would be one hell of a battle that's for sure

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ok. Now I dare you to do all of the guns from ME1-ME3

9 years ago | Likes 77 Dislikes 0

Game Informer says that the M8 will be back in ME4. Wouldn't be the same without it. http://imgur.com/x9lLFfD

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anyone else in 2 try to pretty much only use shotguns? Idk why but they were so satisfying to shoot.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In 3 especially. Ever try the Graal spike thrower? Easily my favourite gun in the trilogy.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No I honestly really need to go replay 3 now :)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Venom shotgun especially was quite fun to use.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I played as a Vangaurd. So shotguns were pretty much all I needed!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Done. Just give me some time. Got a few days of work to do before I get to that.

9 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 1

Yes please

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

M-7 Lancer and BP Punisher are my go-to weapons.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Be sure to mention the M7 and how you could get it to never overheat in ME1
