Is this a possible vent boot leak? Literally right behind the wall is where the plumbing vent is that goes up and through the attic and roof.

The seal around the pipe might be worn down. You might want to replace it or reseal it. There should be a rubber membrane around the pipe.

Only way to be sure is to get into attic and investigate. If not accessible I don't reccomend cutting away drywall but might be only way
