I have a story

This is my older but smaller and crazier sister

she is probably the most inspirational person in my life and was definitely the most supportive person when I came out in my teenage years.
This is also her growing a better beard than I will ever have.

She is always sending the most funny and in this case motivating snapchats. I love having her around

So usually I am mostly a lurker but I decided that her, and her awesome work was something imgur had to see. It's a long post so sorry for that but hopefully you like it!

Now this. This is the stuff she lives for - design. She went to uni studying industrial design.

She works at a corporate furniture company but spends all her personal time developing amazing ideas from anything from Jewellery to Apartment blocks. This is one of her latest designs. it's a unisex necklace where the pendant is a solid gold hexagon with a bear silhouette cut-out. I absolutely love it and as a guy its probably the only necklace I would ever wear if I had one

So a little backstory about her work for those who love sauce

She never liked much jewellery because it just never resonated with her. She would tell me how it's all the same and none of it felt interesting or personal the way she wished it did. Then one time we were talking to our little cousin (about 11). Our cousin explained that she was making jewellery at home and trying to sell it on facebook. Like selling lemonade on the side of the road!

That's what started this all

My sister, being a designer realised that she should really be doing the same thing! So she started concepting and designing some of her ideas and sketching it on Cad (i think thats how that program is spelt).

She has suppliers and packaging and everything all sorted. She is still working on a kickstarter video to help her really launch it and this is a shot i took of her doing just that :)

she sent me some of the graphic designs like this and she doesn't know I'm posting all this on imgur. But she lurks imgur so I think she would really love seeing it pop up as she sits at work bored thinking of design :)

I should note that all of it is designed on her computer here in NZ, the moulds get 3D printed in USA and the pieces are made from the moulds!
This also means all her jewellery can be made in Brass, Gold, Silver or even Platinum! I'm sure she would offer more options too if people requested it :)

She loves simplicity and emphasises trying to capture the soul of jewellery. I think it's mostly because she hates the mass produced stuff available everywhere that has no personality

she is also into geometric shapes and stuff so you'll see a lot of prisms with her logo in it!

its called Arlo jewellery and man is there a cute backstory to the name. Remember the adorable 11 year old making jewellery? well she is an avid animal lover, I'm talking raising sick birds and sheep and stuff like all the time. She has a parrot that loves her and follows her around their house. Anyway one of the birds she saved and taught to fly was named Arlo! My sister met the bird and the name stuck :)

She might regret sending my these snaps now but it was just so much fun doing all the photography with her in this nice lab we were allowed to use so I had to post it!

We are both into photography as amateurs but it took a long time for us to master getting good photos of all her work!

we even went to the outernet to try get some cool photos for her boat themed pieces. Heres me getting a bit soaked as the freezing water hit my skinny knees!

This here is the best picture I have of the boat shaped pendant. Another one I would be pretty stoked to own!

These ones were a request from our uncle who is a pilot.
That's the cool thing about her though, she is able and willing to make custom designs for anyone of anything and they turn out great!

For the pilots/enthusiasts out there this plane is a Van RV6A (I'm not sure what that means though)

So thats her story up to date! As you might be able to tell I love my sister and I love her work :) I really want her dream to be a reality and I'm hoping that the extra exposure might help her along the way!

ps the arrow ring she didn't design, its one I gave her as a present :) The rest she designed!

I have no cat tax but here is a burger tortoise (or maybe turtle I'm not an expert on sandwich based animals)
