blew up, causing them to completely rework the game to be a JRPG, and it sold so well and that all main series games will be like it, going

Get Like a Dragon or Yakuza 0. Can't recommend them enough. 0 is action/brawler combat, LaD is turn based JRPG. Both are incredible.
They go on sale on steam pretty often.
And most of them are pretty cheap for what you get, even when not on sale.

Try Yakuza 0, it's older so it's a lot cheaper and it has a lot of the same insanity and intentional stylistic dissonance.
Like every yakuza game, it has a super serious and intruuguing story, and it has lots of random moment that are spot on. Truly recomended

If you haven't played other yakuza game you won't know few characters or some of the "summons" (like the chicken) รจ but you can enjoy it
As it is a stand alone. One other game that is is the same universe but also stand alone is Judgment and Lost Judgment. Theese are great too

the main story of Yakuza is always usually really dramatic, heavy, and tragic, but all the sidestories are all out of left field and goofy
