Depends. Some allow full contact and have a "health" system. some are more DNDish. other are just Renaissance Festival / Cons

I know it's foam. Lst time i looked into LARP you needed those "boffers" which looked stupid as hell. Not nearly as cool as what you have

What is LARP (I know its live action role playing) but hows it set up and is it like a game? Also are there different types of LARP?

So it depends. some dont allow "magic". which is people just throwing small sand bags and yelling the "spell".

Others are more historically accurate. they only allow steel armor/cloth armor. Leather armor looks cool but cloth is just as strong.
