Varied tactics is very good advice, but mastering a few highly useful techniques is effective as well.
1) Fair enough point there. It also depends on what kind of match you're having; there's a big difference between a 12 round boxing match
2) vs a couple of minutes of light sparring.

I use to do Taekwondo as a teen. During a fighting exam I was paired with a kid that would crouch instead of dodge because you were not /2
alllowed to hit the head. So everyone fighting him couldn't get any points in during the examination and would be penalised for hitting /3
the head. I went in and after 2 minutes and half of no point fihgting I jsut kicked as hard as I could when he dodged. I failed. Worth it.
