"The early years"? Y'all realise there were pc games in the late 70s, long before any of those were released, yeah?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Phantasmagoria, Duke Nukem 3D, Doom II, Descent, Amazon

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I miss windows 95

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That battleship game was the shit. Had the OG regular version and a whole RTS naval combat version.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No SU25?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Where's Syberia ? Everyone have a syberia copy

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

RCT 1 and 2 are masterpieces. I recommend Open RCT2 for anyone looking to play them today.

Missing myst and need for speed SE

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Need for Speed: High Stakes (from 1999) is still my favourite racing game of all time. Still crack out the racing wheel and pedals annually.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Myst was the first game I loved to explore and really solidified my love of those games. Also gotta bring up Shivers 1+2 as well.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Red alert as well

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

PYST was so awesome a parody, that I could never return to MYST

I’m curious...but also worried

Man, I loved riven

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I love that there's a bad ending in Riven like literally 5 clicks away.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Really sad they didn’t uprez it in the 25th Anniversary update they released :(

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Need original Mech Warrior and Wolfenstein 3D

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I don't upvote often but seeing that rollercoaster tycoon 1 disk made me very nostalgic

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Virtual Cop anyone?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Received a lot of these with the 1st family computer. Always cheated in Axis & Allies by rolling for bonuses and then restarting the turn

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You can do that? I am so dusting off my old Pentium III

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wish I knew that back then.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I seriously hope these games aren't considered the early years of PC gaming or I am getting fucking old

7 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Castle of the Winds is public domain. How old do you feel now?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There were lots of good games over 10 years before these like Leisure Suit Larry (87), Prince of Persia (89), King's Quest (83).

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

are the numbers indicating how old the people are now who played this games

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I still get the urge to play Heroes of Might and Magic III once in a while. It's still one of my favorite games.

7 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 1

The AI is so bad in the campaign though, any way to fix this?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I played 2 at a friend's house a couple times, ended up acquiring it myself. Could never get into 3.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I still play it occasionally! Good game

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I sometimes still listen to the soundtrack. That and HOMM2. You could put them in a CD player and skip track 1... I went to sleep to those.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have like 1500 hrs on steam in Heroes. It's awesome

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nwccoconuts

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i've burned at least a couple hundred hours in that game. as soon as you started seeing the computer riding in, the griffons came out.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What race was your favorite? I usually played rampart or castle.

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Tower or Rampart.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I forget what it was, but the elemental one or the necromancer.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Dungeon

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I liked conflux and rampart the most.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Dungeon here, black dragons and Armageddon spell.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Nothing that came on a CD counts as "early years" for PC gaming. 5.25" floppy or gtfo

7 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 2

My favorite game to play on my first PC was Red Baron. My first video game was Pong. My favorite console as a child was Coleco Vision.

Rollercoaster tycoon expansion pack, how DLCs started

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I think Wing Commander 1 had the first video game expansion pack so you can thank Chris Roberts... funny how that worked out.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To be fair, the games were vary complete. you didn't need the expansion, it just unlocked new themes and a few new rides&path blocking signs

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I loved the timrline book & movie, i had no idea there was a game!

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The game was cool for its time. It's kinda similar to first person Morrowind.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah, RollerCoaster Tycoon. A magnificent game. A bundle of fun. A pyramid of perfection.

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I had a bunch of parks. One was specifically designed to kill as many patrons as possible.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think the last time I played a Park was Arid Heights in the 2nd Expansion. But good lord it was hard to not go below 700 PR.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is Theme Park manager a real job? Why did I never pursue it as a career?

7 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

Because of all the people you murdered

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Theme Hospital was my jam

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you like RCT you should check out Parkitect. As someone taking classes in theme park management, yes the job exists but it's not common

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's no one person who does everything you do in Roller Coaster Tycoon. It's a thousand different jobs, most not that exciting.

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Even if you're in a creative design job, you're spending years nitpicking the details of a single attraction.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Because the park would most likely become a death trap

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

True, and I wouldn't be allowed to deliberately design it that way.
