My dad died 2 years ago today from a broken hip after slipping on some ice.

When someone breaks a hip there's a fuckton of blood loss. That's how my Nana met her fate. That was 6 years ago on Thanksgiving.

I don't think people realize how much you can bleed from a bone break. Any of the large bones could kill you if broken.

He was travelling for business, and insurance wouldn't operate in the country he was in. Took 2 days before he was moved and surgery (1/2)

Also, if the patient is elderly or compromised in ANY way, breaking a hip usually spells the beginning of the end...infection, sepsis, etc.
