think I just found my fave gif ever

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Would be one hell of a phone wallpaper animating accordingly to tilting movements.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Love a good nebula

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Quiet literally amazing

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I stared at these for a long time. Very cool.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Neat

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is crazy awesome.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Holy fuck, that is impressive. I wonder if anyone has done full 3D flyarounds?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

funny how nature do

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

These are a little nebulous for my tastes

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Skyrim?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Neat

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love this. It's so hard to tell which stars are closer than others and this gives space depth perception.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

These always make me sad because we could be in the middle of a nebula right now and we'd never know it because you can't see them up close.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm an astronomer and I'm pretty sure we'd know it based on e.g. how the light from stars at different distances would get dimmer.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But I have to admit that I know very little about the interstellar medium beyond some basic course I took like eight years ago.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now I'm in the mood to watch star trek. Voyager ... maybe tng. Hmmm. These are great, btw!

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

WHAT?! A fellow Voyager nerd? THERE ARE DOZENS OF US MICHAEL, DOZEEEEENNNNNNSSSSS!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Awesome! A full 360 turn would've been more awesome though!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ya, we'll just circle the entire fucking universe so you can watch a 10-second gif.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A worthy mission, I'd say!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think Space is gonna be the coolest VR experiences out there. Universe sims that have this shit... Off the chain, IMO.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It probably took about 6 months to make these gifs

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

You are clearly a bear.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Parallax effect. Each one of these images was taken over a 6 month period then stitched together to form the image.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They have to be using some serious extrapolation though. The Lagoon Nebula is 4100 ly away. Thats 1250pc. That equates to 0.0008" parallax.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

0.0008" (arcseconds) is about 2,22222e-7 degrees. So the nebula is so far away that it basically does not have any parallax at all.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sigh.. *unzips brain*

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How can I set it as my phone background?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sigh... *unzips*

10 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 4

Better ingredients. Better fapping. PapaPengo's.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Aww yeah. Better ingredients

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i love how thats where your brain went with all that info

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm a little odd.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's why we're here right?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wonder how fast you'd have to go to get this effect with the bare eye.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A lot faster than light, so it's not going to happen.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I guess that's not to mention the massive change in acceleration to get the back and forth motion.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So about how far & fast I'm I traveling left & right here to be able to see these nebulae like this?

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm guessing 'far' will be the diameter of the Earth's orbit. So a lot faster than light which would take over 16 minutes.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At least like 10

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You should favorite this if you aren't high right now because you'll really really appreciate this high.

10 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 3

Precisely the reason I hit that heart.haha

10 years ago | Likes 0 Dislikes 1

So high right now. I appreciated it.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Yes. 100% yes.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

I do, were looking at life forms doing their thing without seeing them. big woah man....

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

also my rap is moving with it, so more woah man....

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I saved this a long time ago then randomly found it high

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And how awesome was it?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

An LSD high

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait......are you high?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Have you ever seen the back of a dollar bill?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From someone who rarely ever gets high, so glad I found this rn

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

This is a neat effect, but in regards to how it would actually look in 3d, I'm afraid this says otherwise ?1

10 years ago | Likes 369 Dislikes 27

WOW

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*sigh*...goddammit

10 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 1

Didn't see that one coming.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

there'd also be no colours, these are fancy composite images to show chemicals in the clouds

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Alright... take it you bastard +1

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm here in Usersub to try to get a best comment on a post. There's just sometimes when you know you've been clearly bear no matter what +1

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

You are clearly a bear.

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

You cheeky bastard. +1

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Zat pic is... how do you say.... Literal?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

+1 you earned it.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it has "?1" on the end. What did you crop out of it?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I did not know this

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would presume the diameter of the earth's orbit would need to be a hell of a lot larger to get that much parallax.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

By many orders of magnitude.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A telescope in the Oort Cloud might be able to do this. It would only take like 20 years to get there.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

but the time it would take to get to opposite sides of orbit would be many decades if not centuries.. our solar system probably moves faster

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

through space to get a wider angle than something that would orbit that slow

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fair point. Pluto's orbit is like 248 years so it would be faster to launch two telescopes in opposite directions.
