No one wants a weaker military. And It's demeaning to women to expect less of them

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Listen, great idea.. active military female.. not big, 22 min 5k cant do pullup to save my life but can squat and carry 400 lb person easy..

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

like its that hard to pull a trigger

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Damnit James, most service members agree with ya there. It's not unpopular haha

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Everyone agrees; fuck off, point whore.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I have good news. They are the same standards between genders for combat roles, in the us. They are less for women to start and pass basic.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is because the US military just wants a base level of fitness just to be in the military.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*without lowering standards

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Yeah, that's the important part. Women have to be able to pass the men's tests, not the other way around.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

(1/2) There's a difference between aptitude tests and physical fitness tests. Aptitude tests should be the same, but a physically fit woman

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

(2/2) can run slower or do fewer pushups than a physically fit man and still both be the same level of general fitness. This isn't hard.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Not an unpopular decision

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

When I tried to do the same amount, I got in trouble.. Total bs. Should be the same for all

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My ex has dyspraxia and said her practical driving test was unfair as a result...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The women want that too.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 4

The standards for regular members are very similar in the first place. Bringing the female standards up to males shouldn't be a problem.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Umm, some people in the military in this thread said the standards for push-ups and pull-ups for women are like less than half of men's.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was USAF, push ups were ridiculously low for women and they shouldn't be. But run times and crunches were very similar.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ha! Have yet to see a XX who can do 80+ push ups to standard in 2 minutes. Or run sub 13 min 2 mile

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Ur right in the uk the time for a 1.5 mile run for the paratroopers is 9:40 and the women's time is almost 11 minutes

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I'm pretty sure they are. I heard a woman did the Seal (?) test at like 44 and kept up with the guys. Said she wanted to prove it was doable

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think you're talking about the movie gi Jane. It was fictional

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I got it mixed up, it was Ranger training and there were 2 http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/18/politics/women-graduate-army-ranger-course/

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I want to know unequivocally that whoever my fiance is on the front lines with can drag his 230 pound ass to safety if need be.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

That's not fair. how are they supposed to pass penis inspection day?

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Absolutely correct. Very few women can pass the same fitness standards for ground combat. Neither can a lot of men. Do what you can do.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

*cue the Everybody Thinks That puffin*

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I'm not downvoting because I disagree, I'm downvoting because it's popular

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I'm downvoting because I agree. These obviously-popular opinion puffins are fucking boring. I upvote the ones I disagree with.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm kinda curious specifically what you mean. Can you elaborate?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's now the same here in Canada, although they just lowered the bar for everyone with the new fitness test

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How could this be unpopular? I'd fight alongside anyone if they can do the job, the whole job. Sometime that might mean carrying my ass out.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

No, it really shouldn't, number 1 - "Shoot first, take care of your buddies after" is the rule. Number 2, it's really easy to drag people.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

No fucking shit. This isn't unpopular. -1

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

No shit

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

@op are you in the military?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm becoming an officer in the paratrooper regiment (UK)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

When?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Had some British officers take pictures of me in a trench here in Canada, cause 1) female 2) in a trench lol.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So that's a no. I'm an artillery officer. In the US Army, we have a gender specific fitness test. We're getting our first female 13 1/?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Actually it's a yes I've been in the infantry for four years now but I'm only just making the switch now

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Series soldiers soon. I really don't give a shit about the fitness test as long as they can run 155 rounds and do their job. There are 2/?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Plenty of male soldiers who do well on the pt test but I couldn't trust to carry me out of harms way. However, there are others who can. 3/3

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This opinion is popular af. Any feminist worth their shit agrees

9 years ago | Likes 286 Dislikes 10

Feminist, women, men, apache attack helicopter, glue eaters, Vikings, nurses, baristas, soldiers, even my cat probably. Super popular.

9 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 0

I always wanted to be an apache. Now I just pretend in bfbc2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Those who disagree are relatively vocal though.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

REALLY. Go advocate that women can't be in combat if they can't xyz and see what response u get from majority of feminists. Try Twitter!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 7

Just because they're loud and stupid doesn't mean they're the majority

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm a feminist worth my shit and I agree. If I can't drag your 250-pound ass out of battle, I have no business claiming I can.

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

You can. It's really easy with proper technique. Unless you can't do a single push-up in which case work out for a month and you could.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Hmm. Have you tried the male PT?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

*PFT

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

how much dragging is really going on in battle?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Right? It's shoot first drag after... I'm sure they can figure something out after the gun smoke has settled.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I admire your honesty, you're a good person for not bluffing about what you can do.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just want to point out that there are different fitness standards for men depending on their age.

9 years ago | Likes 190 Dislikes 21

In most situations, as you get older you move up the ranks and you'll think more and hump shit less

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In the US maybe. For the British Army men are tested by what unit they are joining. Paras are the hardest, I think the RAMC is the easiest.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Air force over 30 doeant change much for men >30 women is literally half of what >30 mens requirements.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Would like to see a lot of the men pass a womens waist measurement.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I'm not saying that the women's fitness standards shouldn't be more consistent with men's, but that there's precedent for different reqs.

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 11

Kicking out someone with 15 years of experience because they can't run or do as many push-ups as an 18-21 year old doesn't make sense.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 7

Kicking out a female or male because they couldn't pull me out of a burning compartment, same age with equal experience, does.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Not when it comes to ruck times, combat fitness tests (or similar); basically anything that measures operational application of strength

The standards are the same for both men and women in combat roles. Ie: Rangers. Women weren't even allowed these until a few years ago.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 21

Wrooonnngggg! 13A here.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

What youre talking about is pushups, situps and run times... which is like making sure someone can multiply before enrolling into calculus

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 2

You joke, but the most common errors in any Calc class will always be basic arithmetic and properly distributing signs!

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

software developer: the hardest bugs to find is that time you swapped the numerator and denominator. :P

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A little. But when a man has to do 40 some odd pushups to pass and a woman has to do 12...

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

I had to do 40 to get in. I'm female.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm calling liar liar pants on fire.

To get into what? The army standard for men is 42 I believe, and considerably lower for females.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Honestly, nobody cares about pushups and situps. I dont. Put some kit on and a ruck, show me what you got. (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 3

I saw kids weighing 120 dominating pushups, situps and the run. Put some weight on them and they implode (2/2)

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

The standards are set because people need to be able to hump injured battle buddies out of shit. Same standard or 100% female combat squads.

9 years ago | Likes 462 Dislikes 11

A Standard is a Standard is a Standard.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Friend is in the guard. Sometimes during drills the cute college girls just walk along in the back while the men carry their packs.

Yeah not quite the same. Military doesn't generally use BMI. Basic tests of strength and endurance and a body fat percentage.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

so they have to rescue lighter female soldiers?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was combat in the israeli defense force. We were just required less pushups..wasnt bad considering all the chicks in my unit wernt fat.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wrong. The standards are set because you are receiving cheap health insurance. If people get fat or out of shape it's not cost effective

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 23

^pog!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Not PT, combat training pass/fail. The post is about fighting, not desk jobs.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

100% fem units, 95% casualties (left in the field).

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 40

Would be easier to hump the ladies.

9 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 57

There's the straight line - true because they weigh less. And the funny line - hump'em!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I up voted to keep you from drowning. I love you fellow imgurian.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 6

Idk why this has so many downvotes, it's fuckin funny

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 21

Same that's funny!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Not just to get out of the shit, but to get in the fight and stay in it as quickly and violently as possible.

9 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 1

"stay in the fight as violently as possible" nice

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You said hump uhuhuhu

9 years ago | Likes 136 Dislikes 8

I'd upvote this, but you're at 69 points, soooo... +1

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gotta get it to 690 then

Could an argument be made that "fitness tests" are more-so a measure of determination and discipline, or is that too deep?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Let me clarify... When I went to boot camp twenty years ago, we ran a few miles 'round a track in a given time. 1/...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

A decent challenge, but easy for those of us who were already fit. I'll never forget when we got back, the company commander (USCG) asked...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

"Do you think you could have done better?" Every one of us was smart to not say a damn thing b/c doing your best was the point of the run.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I guess my point is, as long as you are doing your best (and of course, passing MEPS), physical fitness will naturally follow.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

100% fem units, 95% casualties (left in the field).

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 47

Russians, Koreans, and Vikings would likely beg to differ, just off the top of my head.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Then you have mixed troops like Israelis and Kurds doing their jobs just fine.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

And no different set of physical requirements based on genitalia, I'd wager. Thanks for making my point.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Shield maidens had their own fighting style/training and Russian women sniper units were OK because they avoided hand-to-hand. Still lethal.
