This was a few years back now, but when I was in my early 20's I moved from a small town to the city for work. I have been suffering with an anxiety and depression disorder for as long as I remember and due to the stresses of that job my doctor prescribed me Xanax and other drugs to stop the stress and believe me, it worked great, I felt good. But after a while they would just stop working and I had to take more to get the same effect. Before I knew it, I was taking up to 20 Xanax in a singular sitting. (Most I have ever taken was 30 pills FYI) and just be a zombie. At the time and because of my financial situation I had to resort to living at a backpackers until I got my shit together, it was attached to a nightclub in which has free entry to anyone staying at the backpackers, so I would be down there drinking every night. Most nights I didn't even have to buy drinks. Days soon turned to weeks and soon to months and my situation was just getting worse, someone had spread a rumor that got my kicked out of the backpackers in the middle of the night. Eventually the doctor stopped giving me Xanax and I had to go to other sources which bled me dry. I resorted to sleeping in a park for 3 months and hanging around the outside of the backpackers because my friends at the time we're still there, I would just sit there zombified if noone would interact with me, one day one of my friends introduced me to a Dutch girl, who we ended up hitting it off right away to the point where she asked me to travel with her. She was travelling up the east coast. I told her about my addiction, and she helped me through the withdrawals which was the worst thing I have ever had to experience. I would be simultaneously hot and cold, the vommiting seemed endless and I would have wounds open up all over my body and in my mouth. It wasn't a good experience. She was also kind enough to pay for my entire trip up the coast. I skydived, scuba dived and saw a lot of once in a life time things. (I paid her back of course) i can tell you right now, jumping out of a plane at 16,000 ft is a much better high than any drug could give. but since the day I left for my travels I have not been drunk nor touched a benzodiazapans again since.
4 years sober.
Tl;dr: fucked my life up, pulled my head out of my ass and fixed it
Kids only do drugs in moderation if you are going to do them. Don't end up like I was. You feel lonely, helpless and worthless and lose everything. Don't go there
NoxInSox
That a good one, done see many like it anyone

I lost a classmate to the same mix. I'm glad your story has a different ending

Benzos are definitely the worst thing to take. Unlike any other drug in their sheer strength and danger of addiction. Watch out all.
rustybuttwhore
You still have no friends
ValhallaArise
20 Fucking Xanax? I was addicted to percocet and took a handful of those in one dose. But 2-3mg of Xanax and I'm fucking sleeping.
ValhallaArise
Congratulations on the sobriety. (I am also sober from a cold turkey quit, withdrawals were absolute hell. Fuck that shit. NEVER GOING BACK)

You want me to believe a random rich woman was just like "yeah I want to pay to take this drug addicted homeless guy on a world trip"?
ForPizzaSake
She wasn't rich. And I might have been homeless, but I surely wasn't a bum. Wasn't a world trip. It was a trip up the east coast of Aus
DeadlyEnzyme
Good on you pizza. Glad you got it together and had an adventure
ForPizzaSake
Was the best experience. I skydived over the great barrier reef. Saw a freaking shark in the water when the parachute opened.
DeadlyEnzyme
Sounds like a blast! Always wanted to visit the Great Barrier Reef
ForPizzaSake
It's gorgeous. I travelled through airlie beach and the whitsunday islands. If you have never seen them I highly suggest googling it

the nausea and vomiting. caused a bunch of issues that caused me to cough up blood
Brady2Gronk
Congrats bro. Those withdrawals are the absolute worst thing I've ever experienced. Good on you!
ForPizzaSake
Fuck yeah dude. The dry heaving was the worst damn near tore my throat up. Was coughing blood and had a sore throat for weeks
Brady2Gronk
Once I couldn't sleep or eat or feel happy without them I knew it was time to stop. It can be fun, but gets ugly very very fast.
errigal
I'm just starting the withdrawal again. I've relapsed once already. I want to quit but the doctors don't want me to. I'm a legal junkie.
errigal
It really makes me feel bad for people addicted to harder drugs. I've had doctors tell me the withdrawal was in my head.
errigal
Max dose benzos will fuck you up.
ForPizzaSake
Stay strong brother. Have you tried weed? I didn't mention it but cannabis helped me quite a lot with my anxiety and depression
