Fairly certain the before was laminate. We ended up putting some in one of the houses I lived in a few years ago, and it looked similar.

They are a nice color, but appear to be laminate, which I just got rid of in my place. Went with real oak, so they will last a lifetime.

Agreed. And on a budget, floating floor particle wood is the way to go. You can replace it for a little more than to refinish real wood.

Pre-engineered laminate it looks like. Pretty color though. Would have just stained and matched the old oak.

It's a lot easier and takes a lot less time (a day or two vs at least a week) to overlay with laminate, plus you'd need a professional (1/)

True but if you can afford it at the time, it adds a lots of value to the home and is cheaper to maintain/refinish.

Can be - I work for a flooring company in NZ and it's usually cheaper to overlay a laminate, even paying for a professional install, (1)

I agree, but I just had hardwood put down and had new appraisal made, added about $21k to the value and cost $11k to install.

In my fathers house we tore up all the flooring to reveal the original floors from 1920. After days if sanding and polish they looks great

My parents house has the original hardwood, custom hardwood on top, and laminate on top of that.

Looks like laminate flooring. Scrapes are too uniform and the beveled edges are too nice. Still looks good.

It's not bamboo, it's a domestic wood. Now Homerwood is a real handscraped hardwood. The person that scrapes it signs the back of the board.

OP says it's engineered, so as close to laminate as you can get while still nailing it. The butt end bevels are also stained, another clue.

It's engineered wood, per Reddit OP. The original hallway & LR floors looked better IMO.

My father installs hardwood floors and I've worked with him for years. I know the LR was a bitch to remove. Especially being 2-1/4" wide.
