That one here is my solution for the Time crystal :3 Happy to see some Opus Magnum players.

this is a great game

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love this game but it's a mind fucker.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn that is a good one! I used to play this years ago. You are very good at visualizing the process. Efficiency here is next level! GG!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm guessing you fail if you make a link where there shouldn't be one, right?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Correct. What you make needs to match the target panel or it won't go.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tried this game once. Once.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That is a sweet solution. We'll done and fantastic OC. Thank you.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Looked up opus magnum and of course made by Zachtronics. Yea, this is going on my wishlist, his games are hard but extremely well made.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well, you hit the cost and area targets for the puzzle, that's for sure.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For reference: OP fucked around to build this satisfying thing with min cost, but there're other options v

5 years ago | Likes 81 Dislikes 0

This looks like the one I made.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Here's mine, a bit of a middle ground between yours and OP's

5 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

- Cost: 130g, Cycles: 335, Area: 82.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The solution I posted was my first attempt solution lmao

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That is brilliant stuff. Mine was nowhere near as smooth :)

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ooh I like that approach! Very satisfying. Love how many ways there are to solve these, here was mine:

5 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

Dang son, dis one's mine v

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The weird looking bits up left and the little spin before it tosses it in haha, awesome!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The game lets you export gifs, you can just google the name of a level and watch this factory porn to your heart's content :)

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

is this a sequel to Tetris

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Great game, although spacechem was better

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Hadn't heard of that one, looks pretty cool I'll have to give it a go after I finish this one, thanks

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Definitely worth a look!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All of Zachtronics' stuff (except Eliza and MF83) are absolutely amazing brain-crunchingly difficult games. Definitely worth checking out!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My vote goes to infinifactory, just love the asthetic and pseudo minecraft building

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I think you'll find that it's actually Minecraft that has the psuedo-Infini building :)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Touche

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

zachtronics is fucking awesome

5 years ago | Likes 114 Dislikes 1

Zachtronics made the game Infiniminer. Prototype/inspiration for Minecraft

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Highly recommended for anyone that wants to get into programming/engineering.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, also check out human resource machine.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Who dat?

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

One of the few puzzle game creators who makes games where you truly discover A solution, rather than finding THE solution.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

That looks a lot like zachtronics spacechem

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because it's Zachtronics' Opus Magnum. :)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes noticed that after checking the steam link :)

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That reset was delicious

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

that's weird... biggest part of the game isn't visible.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The command chain? Yeah, this is the gif that it lets you record when you finish, I ain't savvy enough to record a gif live

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Super gg

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I didn't even know this game existed. Is it free? Web based? Steam?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I watched the trailer and still have no idea what this game is. Hahahah!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is a game about constructing an alchemical factory of sort to create a desired output using a custom solution you yourself come up with.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

From the same author, free, requires Flash: http://www.zachtronics.com/the-codex-of-alchemical-engineering/

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Im failing to understand the properties of the two separate orbs.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

iirc the middle one is a gold and the others are all salts?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The way the game works is you put together "molecules" to build the final product. Such as two hydrogen and an oxygen to build a water.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ah, I see the indicator on in the mold now.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The gold one is, well, Gold. The white one is Salt. The game is alchemy themed.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I started playing because of this, and just got past this level. Your solution is amazing. Took me a small factory :)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's this game?

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Opus magnum

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you have access to Flash, you can try http://www.zachtronics.com/the-codex-of-alchemical-engineering/ from the same author. It's free.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Opus magnum my man

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Reminds me of spacechem, which I liked a lot.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Both Spacechem and Opus Magnum as from Zachtronics, in case you didn't know.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*are from

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That’s cool. Isn’t it Magnum Opus, though? Nbd

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I think the issue you run into is that the game is called Opus Magnum, so that's the assumed way to say it in this case.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Opus magnum is correct in Latin (noun+ adj), but in English we use adj+ noun. I'd say it's stolen as a phrase so opus magnum is right

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You can switch word order around in latin, it they did all the time fucking.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's what happens when the language has a massive hardon for morphology and word order doesn't matter. Whee!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

English *does* sometimes use noun adjective, but it's usually considered flowery. Sometimes both at the same time. e.g. ...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"It was a long journey harrowing."

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mine for this puzzle. v

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Loved this game! One of my personal favourite solutions that I built was this one, just based on appearance:

5 years ago | Likes 175 Dislikes 0

That is beautiful. I loved this game

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah the lead into gold one, that looks dope man

5 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

Wow, these Rorschach tests are getting really complicated.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Beat the heck out of mine. v

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Uuuh, now it starts to actually look complicated.

5 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 0

It's one of the most approachable Zachtronics games because you can place everything yourself. This is just a tightly made solution.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Optimised for speed, not simplicity :P

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I am not smart enough for this game. I tried, I failed.

5 years ago | Likes 550 Dislikes 2

To me it felt more like patience and persistence were the key elements. Super satisfying when you beat a level you thought was impossible.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I made the mistake of taking a break. Came back about 6 months later, have no idea how to play any more

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep dude same, what ya wanna do is open the game, go documents, my games, opus magnum, and delete that number folder while the games running

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That'll reset the game for ya, it's what I did so I could relearn the basics

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You'd think that would just be a setting.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You would, but sadly not

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

SpaceChem looks like an easier version if you wanna give that a try. But yeah, this looks... too complicated for me.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It is admittingly one of the last levels of the main game and you can place more than one piston. Spacechem felt harder to me tbh.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Spacechem? Easier? I was stuck on the pseudoethyne level for FOUR YEARS before I finally sat down and kludged a solution that barely works!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I didn't finish Space Quest for years because I didn't know the box was referred to as a crate!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Zachtronics games do a pretty good job easing you into the hard stuff. Don't be intimidated, this is a late game puzzle.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Spacechem is much much much harder. Don't let its more simple UI fool you, the later levels get absurdly difficult

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As someone who actually finished SpaceChem, including the challenges, I can tell you Opus Magnum is much easier; the key difference is>

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

that Opus Magnum has no branching or conditional programming, it's just a "dumb" automata following a linear set of instructions. SpaceChem>

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

levels, on the other hand, can have multiple branching circuits with subroutines. The advanced levels can be truly nightmarish.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn, I should give space chem another try. I remember getting annoyed because I couldn’t figure something out right away.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same, played it like 2 years ago, failed at start of act three, came back to it 2 days ago and powering thru it. Like to think I got smarter

5 years ago | Likes 108 Dislikes 0

Really though I just got sober lol

5 years ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 0

What a fantastic follow up, I'm glad I tapped on the responses though I dont know why I did. Lmao.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

?

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Which games is this? Is it available on iPhone?

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's called opus magnum, i play it on computer through steam, not sure if it can be played on a phone sorry mate

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Cool thanks I will have a look on steam, looks interesting

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What are we watching, what was the task?

5 years ago | Likes 185 Dislikes 1

Opus Magnum is a game about building "construction factories", by using the arms, input nodes, modifier nodes, to make a specific output. >

5 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

You have the basic building blocks and a blank canvas, and need to write the instruction set to make it all work. This is a "minimal item" >

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

solution, only using one input for each type, 1 arm, and 1 welder to do all the work. You could add more arms to speed up the process,

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It appears you control the piston arm to create a shape that will fit into the impression. Spatial reasoning game, seems.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's a bit more than that - it's as factory design, but this guy did a minimalist solution. Here's something more typical:

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

- stolen from downthread.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The one I intended to copy:

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Basically build that thing, there's a story that goes along with the game but don't wanna spoil it

5 years ago | Likes 116 Dislikes 1

I won't ever play this game, can I have the spoiler please?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is this one of the puzzles in the game or one you made up? (Im still toward the beginning.)

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Yeah act 5 second task

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

This is one of the lategame puzzles I believe
