I don’t have a kind way to ask this question so apologies in advance for the insensitivity, but what’s the difference between “rejection-sensitive dysphoria” and “Needs to toughen up a bit”.
I have two men in my life who can not hear criticism with resorting to combative defensive yelling, and I have no idea how to handle that except to minimize contact and just let them walk all over me because they make speaking my mind not worth the energy or time.

Sit them down and ask them how they would like to hear any feedback you have. Go slowly, listen to their anxieties, but make it clear that negative and positive feedback is good - so long as it is constructive.

If you have a legit criticism about what I'm doing or how I'm doing it, I won't flip out at you, I'll feel stupid and worthless like my idea or method is terrible. I might get defensive and try to explain my thought process. Like at work I was getting a cake from the case for someone, and the bakery person asked why I tried balancing the box on top of other cakes instead of leaving it on the bakery table and walking the cake over to it. That's a valid question. Why the fuck didn't I do that?

I am not an expert in that particular area, but what I would say is this: as kids, boys are sometimes not taught how to handle their emotions -- or, sadly, to even permit acknowledgement of their existence! -- so they can turn into those sorts of men :-\

The problem, ultimately are the men. If they are able to face up to it, I would lean towards a CBT approach to 1) modify how they react outwardly 2) change how they perceive and deal with criticism internally (2/)

What you choose is up to you, of course. It's a tricky situation to navigate by virtue of both that this behaviour presents a barrier to undoing it in and of itself (ie there's a substantial chance broaching it will be perceived as criticism); and that addressing involves both admitting there's a problem and undoing years/decades' worth of conditioning.
Whatever happens, finding support among family or friends will help. Good luck, I hope they learn to change

Gender performance as a different gender is not perpetuating anti-trans rhetoric. that's not the point of it. Drag culture is absolutely about being authentic to yourself and loving yourself. You can be authentic to yourself AND perform in a way that's not you, those aren't mutually exclusive.
