Seriously. Why should I care about pinecones or the darkside? You didn't ask if I even wanted to care, you just tossed me in.

I can't even tag a post with #star_wars for the trophy. Every time I do the website automatically changes it to "starwars" which is not the one that grants the trophy. I tried putting both, and it resulted in the post being tagged with two "starwars" tags which shouldn't even be possible.

They’ve been doing this for years. It’s not new, but they have been doing it way more often now. Back in the day, it was largely done during like April Fools. If anyone remembers Team Zombie vs Human.

Don't engage with fake engagement.

I bet you're dark side.

Come over to the dark side. It's comfortable

If I were given the option to choose I'd be light side. Not because of the score either.

Didn’t want to be dark side. Didn’t want to play stupid games for points or create content for the host. I hated busy work that does nothing as a kid, and I hate it now. Even the computer in War Games asked if you want to play a game. Respectfully, no I don’t. Put your nukes away

But then the teams would be imbalanced, and then one would run away with it, and then people would engage less because there's no purpose, and then they'd make less money, and them rich people would be sad.

So, no. Idea rejected. Apologies.

But I have no reason to care or engage with it at all, because I was just thrust into this thing I didn't even consent to. I should at the very least be allowed to opt out then.

But if you opted out, then that would show investors and stockholders that users don't like the new engagement farming ideas, and that would make the rich people sad again.

(Btw, I agree with you completely, I'm saying all of this in jest. This shitty app/site has really gone downhill. But there's nothing else that's better, I guess...)

You didn't get to choose your ethnicity, the country or economic status you were born into, or what set of genitalia you came equipped with, either. Maybe there's a lesson in this.

The lesson being that you think tribalism based on things people didn't choose like ethnicity or sex is preferable? Yeesh.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The opposite. You don't have to participate in tribalism forced upon you.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

No one is saying they feel forced into tribalism, they're saying they want to participate but also be able to choose a team. The point is fun, not to be an allegory for real-world bigotry like you seem to think. Do you also tell people they need to learn a "lesson" cheering for a sports team since there are people who cheer for their race? Absolute batshittery.

Just like sports teams, what "side" one is on here literally doesn't matter.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Everyone knows it doesn't matter. Again, you're missing the point like it's your job.
