Trucks hitting bridges

Since trucks hitting bridges suddenly appear on the internet, I thought I'd share another bridge in Durham NC which is frequently struck.

The bridge here, owned by the North Carolina Railroad Company, has a clearance of 11 feet 10.8 inches, and is listed at 11' 8" by the signage.

Nonetheless, box trucks strike the bridge regularly. About one per month. Some guy started recording the intersection in 2008.

The bridge can't be lowered because of a sewer line beneath the street. It can't be raised either, because railroads have very specific grades, which would need to be modified for miles in both directions.

The signage seems adequate, but truck renters are frequently unaware of the height of their vehicle it seems. Which leads to some pretty spectacular wrecks.
