At work we use a service that just rejects your password and makes you go through the password reset procedure every three months, and we were super confused about it until I emailed support and they went "yeah, you just gotta change your password every 90 days". A: That's not considered safe anymore. B: Just... tell me then??

Actual possible reasons:
1. You mistyped it on the login screen
2. Your new password can't be the same as any of your old passwords, and in an attempt to change it to something you would remember you entered an old password you've used there and have since forgotten

That is NOT from S. Morgenstern's classic! That is from William Goldman's (highly) abridged version, which in my opinion is an absolute travesty. It rips out some of the most robust and thorough descriptions of Morgenstern's world and somehow manages to still have the audacity to be referred to as "the good parts" version. 😡
Did you know there's never even once been a peep from the Morgenstern estate about it? Not one. It's like they don't even exist or something. 🤷♂️

Notice toward the end how a bunch of the cat heads move exactly the same as one another. That's a huge sign. Not to mention there is no group of cats that large that would sit still like that on a stairway. Not in a million years.
