Our capital!

This is the capital of sweden,stockholm,you might have heard about it. Almost a million swedes call it home and it's my home to. It was founded in 1252 by a fantastic man named Birger Jarl. It was first a small trading town,and that part of the city is still in it's old state,and is called the old town or gamla stan in swedish. The city is spread across 14 different islands.

Subway

The stockholm subway was opened in 1950 and has 100 stations in use. Some stations are decorated like the one in the picture by some artists.

Globen (the globe)

This is the most extrodinary stadium in the city of stockholm. It was opened in 89 and have hosted a lot of different sporting and musical events. It 's highest point is 130m over sealevel and you can go up their with a lift.

The stockholm archipelago (stockholms skärgård)

This is a huge archipelago lieing around the capitol. It extends 60 km (37miles) from the city center and many people go their for leasure during the summer.

Fika!

"Fika" is a swedish social concept where some people go out during the day and drink a cup of coffe and often some sort of pastrie.

Ice hotel

In the northern part of sweden in a town called jukkasjärvi where a hotel,completly made of ice. It melts in the summer and has to be rebuilt every november.

The north

In the north of sweden you often get to see northern lights,and in the summer the sun never sets and in the winter the sun doesent rise for a couple of week.

This is our king and queen of sweden. They are kinda awesome and i like them. Whe are not a total monarchy,but a parlamentary monarchy similair to the UK. They are named Drottning Silvia and Kung Karl XVI Gustav av bernadotte.

Nobel prize

The nobel prize is awarded every year on december 10 to scientists who have acomplished somthing in physics,chemestry,biology and medecin aswell as the peaceprize and the literature prize.

Fun fact: In 1948 the comite did'nt award a peace prize becuse gandi past away and they could not find a sutible candidat
