This is sevierville Tennessee, the place that I hang my hat every night before bed. I have lived here for about two years now and yesterday and last night were the most destructive nights I've seen. As most of y'all know the sevierville, Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge area have been set ablaze for the past few days. Fire fighters had it under control until yesterday at about mid day. Thats when the winds changed and started blowing at around 50-70mph all night. Last night the city of Gatlinburg declared a state of emergency and completely evacuated every man woman and child they could find. Going door to door making sure people were okay and telling them to get out safely.

I have done a lot of work on cabins in these mountains and a lot of the property managers have houses they stay in for months at a time when they are on call and almost all of them lost their homes. Hundreds if not thousands of cabins throughout have been destroyed by these fires.

The longer the fires go on the worse it is. (Common knowledge but hey I don't care) Many if the friends that I have that own cabins in this general area are down and out. Everything they worked hard to buy so they can vacation here when they want is now gone, some didn't care because they have the money to rebuild but most are flat out fucked.

They closed down the roads into Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge to everyone except emergency vehicles. I've seen people that got trapped in a hotel because a tree that was on fire fell on the only road in or out of the hotel.

None if these pictures are mine and I don't claim to have taken any of them. I am just spreading the word and hoping people can keep Sevier county in their thoughts and prayers.

Lucky to have already hiked through that area. Hope the rains pick up and give some relief.
