Both are opinions, Both opinions are stupid imo. Just because someone has an opinion doesnt mean they shouldn't be taken without critically thinking about their opinion. If you think I'm wrong, then try to disapprove me. if you can prove your argument better than i can refute it, then I will change my mind.
People are allowed to be dumb as bricks, that doesn't mean you should follow their example (or elect them).
And much more importantly: It excludes you from the premise of tolerance. Demanding your opinion of intolerance to be tolerated is not only deeply hypocritical any tolerant society would also come to an end if it did that. (Paradoxon of intolerance, Karl Popper and all that)
People keep posting this meme saying it's an unpopular opinion that [insert not at all unpopular opinion]. Like yeah the mods fucked up but now we just gonna pretend imgur is mostly nazis?
I gotta ask, but this question got buried under the nazi punching deluge. Everyone knows nazis are hateful little worms at the best of times. Why do people still join them? Why do people still, in this day and age, choose to become nazis?
Tolerance is a social contract. If one side breaks it the other is no longer bound to it. Nazis do not respect the rights of others and therefore are not entitled to be treated with respect.
It's just following the Golden Rule. Treat people the way you want to be treated. Someone treating another person/group like shit, wants to be treated like shit.
wrong, its way worse...flat earth is just you being a complete moron looking for a way to feel superior to other by "knowing more" ironically making you know less...lots of stupidity, little bit of assholeness...being a nazi means advocating for genocide, which makes you approximately the maximum of assholeness there is...plus a good handful of stupidity sprinkled on top i guess...
unpopular opinion, but Human Rights SHOULD be up for debate. We should NOT however create laws which have unreasoned/uncompassionate/unchangable justifications.
It’s only unpopular because it’s both true and requires a little thought. This is a meme site. You could walk through an ocean of this crap and never once wet the tops of your feet.
Flat earthers don't hurt anybody (occasionally themselves, trying to rowboat to the ice wall). Nazis are defined on the desired dominion over other humans rights
Yup, it's a gateway conspiracy down the rabbit hole. I study extremists and conspiracy theorists for a living and for research on how to counter, prevent, deprogram, etc. we also don't vilify people who smoke weed because of weed supposedly being a gateway drug
The mods can be fickle af. I keep getting warnings and 1-day suspensions just for reposting something I saw here (which wasn't taken down obviously) and/or for pointing out stuff I found ironic or misleading that a certain delusional presidential candidate said in plain English, out loud, in public, during actual speeches, that was somehow okay for said candidate to say but not okay for a private citizen residing in the Land of imGuria to even hint at.
Careful, talking bad about the mods (or for that matter, even if you're not talking about them but they think you are), even if it's legitimate criticism, will get you put on their "shit list".
The pro-nazi downvote bots are also automatically "reporting" posts and comments. I think it takes very few "reports" for your comment or post to be automatically removed, with no mods involvement.
Interesting. I wonder if there's a way we can test this. If we know how it works, maybe it would help us devise a stratagem for defeating their algorithms. Hmm.
I don't think any number of upvotes will counter a few reports. It would be interesting to post an innocuously cute puppy picture and then issue a dozen reports against it from a bunch of alternate accounts, just to see if you can kill it.
Sounds like a workable hypothesis. But it would need someone who has the time, energy, experience, and actual resources (assume it would require mutiple discrete ips) to devote to such an experiment.
Well they're taking down the nazi-punch-themed posts right now, so it's time to conjure some new ones, hopefully of a type they won't find so objectionable. Mine also went bye-bye and it was just a still pic, not even a photo, just a single-panel skater cartoon.
Unless I'm mistaken there definitely seems to be some sort of keyword analysis going on regarding euphemisms relating or alluding to the termination of generalized metabolic processes if you know what I mean and I think that you do, so just a little fyi from my perspective there. As far as "good company," well ... *eyes you suspiciously
The nazis really are backing people up more and more into a corner, wounding them more and more. Eventually, they’re gonna do one thing they didn’t expect… make liberal sociopaths who snap and stop seeing conservatives as people, who then decide to do the world a favor.
What are you on about? I’m talking about conservatives/nazis literally driving liberals to the point they snap and start fighting back. I’m hardly defending the nazis. Is that why everybody is downvoting it so hard? They misread it? Because people ARE being ground down, and pushed to their limits. Soon, something will snap.
Nah, that's the worst part. Nazis ARE still people; Humans through and through. Ignoring that is to ignore human nature, and thus preventing us from learning from it and eventually managing it better. Their ideology must never be held as acceptable; That some people are worth less and others are better; Nazi ideology cannot be tolerated to exist, period. We need to create conditions where their ideology can't thrive. And that involves making a better world. Start with removing legal lobbying.
I'm pretty sure the two are already equivocated at every possible moment on this site. There is not distinction made between "people who actually believe in neo-nazi talking points and want to kill or remove other races" (who are EXCEEDINGLY RARE, but this is the internet) and social conservatives who just don't accept the ideas of transgenderism or who argue that gay relationships are sinful. Disagree with them, but distinguish their differences.
"people who actually believe in neo-nazi talking points and want to kill or remove other races" and "don't accept the ideas of transgenderism or who argue that gay relationships are sinful" are the same ideology. nazis also killed trans and gay people, conservatives also don't accept other races
That's like saying progressives are the same ideology as the Communists that collectively killed over 100 million people in the 20th century in Mao's China and the Soviet Union. So if you wanna bite that bullet, be my guest. Absolutely every conservative I know in my life has absolutely no issue with racism. But, maybe you've altered the definition of racism to mean something totally different now - you'd have to let me know.
Can you provide statistics that back that claim up? I don't think state or federal crime statistics track whether certain violence originates from a group of people espousing progressive or conservative rhetoric. I don't think either political leaning has a monopoly on using violence to make a point, literally just today the same gif of some jackass wearing a dumb nazi "costume" getting punched in the face was reposted and made it to the front page THREE times. BLM also got plenty violent.
I don't think you can, in good faith, make the argument that progressives are less violent. Revolutions are bloody and violent. Oppression is bloody and violent. That's not a point I think you "win" on.
Wheeelp. I'm glad you asked. Because normally people accept this fact, being a meme that gets circulated, but we see the aspects being argued often and darn those right wing people keep asking the same question even when given evidence! from 2022, https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2122593119 The Far right loves to talk about "Violent trans people" or "Antifa" or whatever their boogeyman-du-jour is.
Jfc if you think the mods of fucking imgur are removing gifs of nazi guys being punched is because they support nazis, you actually need to touch grass.
1. A mod is not required to to remove a post. If a post gets reported enough it is removed automatically. 2. If a mod IS removing it, it would be because depictions of violence are against the rules of the site. We can all agree knocking a self avowed nazi is a net good, but that doesn't make it immune to the community rules.
Having policies that allow Nazi bots to get such posts removed is still wrong. It's like the analogy of the guy buying a building. He may personally support people in wheelchairs, but if the building was built without a ramp and he doesn't actively rectify this, he's still discriminating against them.
So the only way to have what you want is to require every report to be manually reviewed. Which is... possible, I guess. But even then it's actually at the mods discrimination, which is specifically why people hate reddits moderation. Alternatively, they could really Crack down on bots. But I don't think that's likely because of how many bots hold up this site either by auto-posting from other sites or rage baiting
