Gave my students an optional writing workshop day today because it's almost time for a holiday break

It's a psych class, they're learning APA style

But again, holiday break, so nobody's here

Which is fine, cuz I have another chiari headache going on

So y'all get to help me shrink my dump folder while I chill and see who comes in

Enjoy!

Oh shit both of these are me

Sorry, didn't have sound when I downloaded it

Visual story telling

True, even if I've never met you. Why are you handing me a bug?

Sent this to my bestie in the English dept

Yes

Saved this for my perception class because the difference between wavelength colors and pigment colors is always a fun conversation

Need

Not me though, saved for students. I'm okay with math

Yeah my mom died in March, I got diagnosed with a chiari malformation in September, and my country voted against objective morality in November. 2024 can fuck off.

Oops! We did a science.

My neuro class this year keeps quoting the dumb shit I say, which includes, "I blame the French" every time a word is odd or confusing

Siblings

Me as a kid

Saved for my dad, I think we actually have a photo like this somewhere

Dog tax! Violet got spayed and did not like the post surgery jacket... but honey, you wouldn't have to wear it if you didn't start to lick your belly THREE SECONDS after I took it off!

#32 When I was a teen in school I wanted to study theoretical physics, cos black holes and string theory and whatnot were spicy interesting concepts and I wanted to learn them and more. But math….

#5 I think "Does My Hand Burn Ow Fuck" was improperly named. I'm pretty sure it was actually "What Does Fire Feel Like Ow Fuck" which immediately shifted research into fire and fire based applications to the convential does-it-burn centric approach.

we must return to the “texture paradigm”!!!

There’s a Spongebob episode that specifically addresses this…

#32 I was not good with math until college. I was so lucky to select an instructor who taught math such that my brain went"YES!" and triggered my love for the subject. Thanks, Ms. McInerny!

#4 this one always cracks me up. Its literally just a guy with a cone on his head, this passes for unconventional attraction?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You don't say, no one ever talks about that on here, thanks for the heads up.

#33 isn't that the point? Dracula is a centuries old nobleman, but he is so overcome by the bloodlust of his unnatural state that he attacks and feeds like a beast of the forest.

Vlad Teppes was said to dip bread on the bloody wood of his ramparts, so if we’re going back to basics, he should have more temperance

One of my irrational vices or some shit is this... a ghoul yes blood everywhere but a fucking vampire with lifetimes behind them, a perfected ability to charm the pants off anyone, strength and speed but simple dinning etiquette, FUCK THAT! Might as well invest in a dry cleaners.

#8 for repeating the same tasks over and over and over? Yeah. But that entirely misses out on the breadth of functionality we have.

#28 not quite. He went to rescue a friend and her family, and suffocated in the toxic gasses

#32 That's what stops me from being an astrophysicist even though I like space and junk. Well, that and a pretty big lack of motivation and discipline....

But it's mostly the math.

#19 No wonder every time after I pay my car insurance to AAA, I piss blood. Makes sense now.

#23 oh my sweet summer child. You know that nothing begins to break until AFTER the warranty has already expired

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Given that I've had multiple conditions since the age of 16, including a congenital brain defect, I think somebody forgot to mail in my warranty documents in the first place 😂

#5 Cheese very likely comes from "what's this stuff in the calf's stomach, all it did is drink milk" given that cheese is made via rennet, and not acidification, in the early times.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

More likely they used calf stomachs as carrier bags/ travel containers for milk, also water, beer etc but milk and rennet plus time is the relevant bit here

That's a good theory. I'd say the best.

#31 I have a label above my front hall light switch that says "Inside Out". When people ask what that is for, I say "the switch on the left is for the inside light, and the switch on the right is for the outside light." And people sometimes say "can't you just remember the words 'inside out'?" And I always respond "well, you'd think so, but .... "

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I've lived in the same house for over a decade. Most of the switches are mounted vertically because of reasons that I can only put down to spite and severe sociopathy, and I still hit the wrong ones at least once or twice a day.

What kind of dog is Violet? I love her

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

She's a border collie! Rare color too, she often gets confused for an aussie.

#29 Fuck me that's neat

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

It's not what he says it is though. That card with the slot is not "decomposing the light into it's original colours", It's just blocking the individual beams in such a way that the colours can't combine past it. So when you put a pencil in front of the torches it's just blocking each torch light individually, not some magical "complimentary colour magic bullshit that he makes out it is. He's literally just blocking coloured light.
