US Highways are numbered from west to east, ZIP codes are numbered from east to west.

Only odd numbered highways are numbered west-east. Even numbered highways are south-north. Pre-isenhower routes are east-west.

Three digits are bypasses along another interstate. 495 is a bypass on 95. So is 195, 295, and 395.
