Death does not decide who dies, Death is there to handle the transition afterward.
If you want to say fuck you to some mythological entity, I would suggest the Fates or Destiny... the ones that in many mythologies are the ones that decide when anything living will die.
Also they are in most mythologies entirely impartial, showing no personal bias when cutting the threads of life for mortals and gods alike.

Death or the grim reaper doesn't take lives, they're the first person you meet when you pass away to help guide you to were you need to go. Death is actually very caring and kind if you think about it.

To be fair when her husband passed away I knew that she probably wasn’t for long. When you were that close and that in love with someone, a part of you goes when they do.
