He's brilliant and it's fantastic that people are donating to support the NHS, but IMO we shuoldn't be treating the NHS like a charity.
It's still one of the best investments a country can make - as these pandemics may now increase in frequency. Put up tax and collect proprly

Very true, but my fear is that this is normalising a different approach to healthcare funding in the UK.
Just like calling health workers "heroes" normalises the expectation that they will die fighting the virus, donating to the NHS like this>
...normalises the idea that the state doesn't have to pick up the bill for healthcare.
