And it feels goooooood!

Some background story. I moved to Ireland from Brazil with my parents when I was 14 years of age. I started working as a waiter on weekends and, after a few years, I had saved €7k. Used €2k to travel around South America and an opportunity presented itself: Buy some land. Brazil wasn't doing so well, so for the remaining €5k, I managed to buy 3 x 200m2 plots of land. I kind of just left them there, as I had no money to develop them (I was 19 when I bought them)

Brazil economic boom came and went, price of real estate shot through the roof. My plots increased around 13x in price since then.

I returned to Ireland that summer, studied, did a whole bunch of things and, as if this was meant to be, got offered a really good job in Brazil, to start in July. I made an offer to a local real estate developer, who had an apartment in Sao Paulo, to exchange my plots for one of his apartments + €6k (R$27k), and he accepted!

Now, returning to Brazil with no mortgage, some money in the bank and a cool job! Times are good!

I could have spent that money, as most of my friends who worked with me did, and decided to risk it... it paid off!

It takes luck and being at the right place, at the right time for something like that to happen!

TL;DR: Made an smart investments, now I own an apartment.
