This trippy little optical illusion clip was posted by @Nukls at https://imgur.com/gallery/uCZvZxC about 14 hours ago. I really liked the post and the commentary it generated.
I thought it was a very well-made optical illusion. It even had some commenters on the post saying that it was a cheat -- that you can see the circles are actually moving and/or changing (if you look “Inside corners of the rings”).
I don't know why it popped into my head to do this, but I made an edit of the optical illusion video clip in a few formats. First, I added non-moving lines. It worked fairly well to show the circle edges not changing, but wasn't 100% convincing because the wildly changing colors were still so prevalent and distracting.
Version 2 was adding solid circles. Not moving circles. Just circles that appeared one at a time. It worked OK, but blocked out the middle arrows that were part of the illusion.
Version 3 did the trick, I think. With this one, the only thing getting covered up is the wild colors. Once you succeed at damping out the colors, you can see the four circles never change in size or position.
Again, thanks and kudos to @Nukls for a really cool post that gave my video editing nerd flag a chance to fly this morning.

There seems to be something about the edges of the circles, like some spots are darker or something, besides the color differences that is

Damn cool! I watched all of it several times. Thank you OP!

It gets more annoying the more it gets reposted.
