I can't stand brown ales to begin with.. the only beer I can think of that would be good with icecream is a belgian white, like hoegaarden

because it already tastes like dessert.. vanilla hints, coriander, lavender.. etc.. tastes like honey and might go good with icecream

Chocolate stouts don't get along with my stomach, I don't know what it is. But the Bourbon Country Brand coffee stout by Goose Island (1)

with vanilla bean ice cream was a killer as well. It brought out that bourbon oak flavor. I don't typically do espresso or coffee stouts.
