The one fucking time...
So. iOS 9 released the other day, apparently. It automatically downloaded to my phone, even while I had auto downloading turned off.
It wouldn't let me delete it, and as it was using over a gig of data, I caved and decided it was finally time to update my phone for the first time.
Update finishes... suddenly, unknown error occured, iphone must be updated or restored to factory settings.
Alright alright, I'll try updating again... and again... one more try...
FOR FUCK SAKE!
So I was left without a choice to restore it to factory settings, as it wouldn't allow me to use the phone otherwise even after unplugging it.
It then actually completes the update, and then something struck me. Did the fucking backup I made before all this, save my photos? Dear god, at this point I was probably going to chew off my fingers.
So... it asks if I'd like to start it as a new phone, or restore it from a backup. Obviously I chose the backup. Then I sat, waiting, as it loaded onto my phone slowly. Oh boy. The bar showing what data is used where began to fill up. Everything is as it should've been, besides the photos. It shows 10 photos. Out of the thousand or so that should've been there. I was just about ready to cry, as most of them were of my pets and other important things to me.(I felt even worse because I had even told my friend that I should probably backup or develop my photos, last week...)
WELL, after all that... all the photos suddenly show up once the backup was finished transferring. Jesus. Fucking. Christ. Never had I copy pasted folders so fast.
Well, after such a dramatic trip, I thought it was done. Hey, I can use my phone again and now I can go take a dump while browsing imgur once more, right? HA, too bad, phone's stuck on a swipe screen because the update is bugged for those upgrading from iOS 7, to 9.
Fanfuckingtastic. I'm gonna go drink my emotions away now.

My photos/videos are the only things that really matter on my phone. I'm an idiot for not backing them up more often.

I trust(ed) my phone more than this pos PC so I left most there, some on imgur, and some saved to this hard drive

Saving them in more than one place is the point. Even if the PC shit the bed you would have them on your phone, and vice versa.

... and "the cloud" in this case means copies of your stuff is going on disk arrays and backed up on tape so the host doesn't lose it.

iPhones are absolute trash when it comes to importing anything to a PC. They're made to work with Macs.

Point of order: iTunes is just as shitty on OSX as it is on Windows. But yeah, you're better off doing things over the air.

Just get an Android. I recommend the Sony Xperia Z5 that's coming out soon, it's waterproof, has front speakers, and a micro SD card slot.

Or an LG G4, which, while not waterproof, does have an actual removable battery and a card reader.

That's good too, but I heard it's had problems with overheating.I don't care too much about removable batteries unless the battery sucks.

It's easier to swap a battery if you're taking photos at an event than to leave your phone tethered to a power bank.

Well if you have a phone with an enormous battery, then you don't really need removable batteries. My phone can last all day without chargin

Record an hour of HD video or take 500 photos in an afternoon and see how your enormous battery is doing.
