PSA: Star Citizen is going to be everything this game wants to be. But will actually and already does.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

worst gave ever

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

You can pick out the lies from this list and it would equal more then 50%.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Too bad all of the worlds aren't very unique due to the lack of biomes and the gameplay is still balls, along with all the missing 1/

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

promised features, but okay. 2/

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I still enjoy it after a few updates, I bought everything and felt accomplished after a week. More than I can say for some games

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

I had fun the one time I played. Was I baked out of my mind? Yes, why do you ask?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

+1 for honesty.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One of the bigger fuck-ups in the industry.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I got this for Xmas last year. Honestly, for it being different than other games, it is fun for like an hour every 2 months.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Play Freelancer, instead of this.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

YES

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I bought the game, first game in years that i hopped onto the hype train. Don't get excited people it's the first step to getting hurt.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Anyone remember the Universe Project?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Jeez, after all the updates i tried this game out... it was actually fun for quite some time. Yes it is limited in content but i had fun

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This game is actually still fun. The reason people are so upset is because Hello Games promised much more then they deliver on

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For people wondering why, the number of planets is not arbitrary but the maximum integer you can store with 64 bits.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been looking up since I was a child, realizing we are fucking stuck here. This game really broke my heart http://i.imgur.com/ODgn1fa

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Check out Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen man. Space Engineers if you like building.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I find it really playableafter the updates, plus the fact I only pated £5 for it pre owned

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Would recommend Elite: Dangerous instead. Yeah it's a few years old, but it's a blast

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Especially in VR!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Check out Star Citizen too

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you want something that’s semi-related, but a lot more detail, check out Star Citizen.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If they say it would take 10 years to discover every planet then wouldn't it take well over 10 years to develop them all as "unique"?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They are generated.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All snowflakes are unique but they're pretty similar still.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Like, how did anyone think that could've been an honest statement?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

What's the deal with Star citizen anyway?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Basically from last time I checked, it looks like it’s coming along well, but that might just be cause I spent 40$ on it and want it to

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&fidelity=medium

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Do you have a specific question about it, or are you asking more for a general overview?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have Space Engine, there's less stuff to do and I still love it. The only reason I don't play NMS is because I'm poor.

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 3

I've spent so many 2-4 hour sessions just flying around the universe. I've got like 500 screenshots I use as desktop backgrounds

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Uhm are you talking about Space Engine or NMS here? XD

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Space engine of course!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can buy it for $6.95 at GameStop

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Though Space Engine is absolutely beautiful and doesn't actively try and stop you from exploring

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They fucked up such a decent idea too...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The game almost as boring as the math used to create it

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Never trust procedural generation to ever be completely unique, simple as that. Said the same thing before release, but they may 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

have an algorithm for the layout, but they still need to manually make the models, AI, creatures and other assets used and those are limited

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd still take a decent sized, but planned and designed world like Skyrim over a larger world that I may never fully explore.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or hell, even dark souls. DS1 had fantastic environmental design, and the enemy placement in general for all games keeps it fresh.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Elite Dangerous has 100 billion star systems in it. Each with planets to land on. It also has far better graphics.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Alright but Spore was top rate

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This is all you need to show anyone who's curious. Wait for it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvAwB7ogkik

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

This is supposed to deter me from wanting to play?!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think he's cute

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still makes me laugh out loud like an idiot. :)

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Same, my wife got pissed cause she was in the middle of asking me a question.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Terranoserus!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haven't tried it. Is the game entertaining for a week or two at least?

8 years ago | Likes 169 Dislikes 2

I enjoyed it for abput 10 hours. They have had an update since that makes the planet more colourful and more animals though

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The last update made it much better. It’s still very much a niche game. Think of it this way: it’s a terrific sandbox, but a terrible game.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Yes. For 2-3 weeks I was thoroughly enjoying the exploration. Don't listen to the butthurt gamer children out there, try it for yourself.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

for me it was fun and nice to play for about the first 3-4 hours until the realization

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes absolutely. I enjoyed it. Form your own opinion of it though and not go by everyone else’s

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Nope. Think Minecraft if minecraft only had digging

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

If ewxploration is your thing, then yes. Especially with the latest updates.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I thought so.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yeah definitely. The new updates added an I terestinf story and some fun new base building elements.

8 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 4

It was a rough release, but they've had quite a few big updates including multiplayer.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Honestly, I know someone who really digs the idea of euro space truck simulators, and he adores Elite Dangerous far more than No Man's Sky.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ED is basically space truck simulator.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Depends on you. It's pretty sedate for the most part, more about exploring than anything else. Gets stale in a hurry though.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

More like an hour or two

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I named two planets after my kids and quit

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's kinda relaxing until you start getting shot at, or you run out of a crucial element for space travel and the planet you're on doesn't

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

fucking have any!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Play dwarf fortresses

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its a fun "non game" to play. No grinding to get things done, no rush to do anything. Just fun relaxing stuff. Its got better with time.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Best review I've seen on the game... https://youtu.be/uTTPlqK8AnY

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If you can get it for $20 or less, I'd say it'd be worth it. I bought it at launch and played 28 hours. It was fun an novel, but got old.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I enjoyed it for a few weeks.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Took me approx 40 hours to completely lvl up the gun, suit, and get one of the better ships. Pretty short.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For about 20 minutes, then you have seen literally everything there is to see. It just repeats after that.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 10

So runescape, cs, the sims, quake, league og legends, DotA... Hmm.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

Cs, league and dota all are competitive based games. 5v5 fights and you're constantly changing how you play to win the game. Very fun imo

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I play cs and lol daily, it is as you say. But it is repeat, with different outcome every time.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's best if you learn how to play(20 mins), then put on your favorite podcast/audiobook, grab a bottle of beer/wine and cruise the galaxy.

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

OMG, that sounds like heaven right now!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have maybe 100 plus hours into it and have finished all 7 books of the soverign of the seven isles audio book series while playing.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Listen to the stormlight archives. About 50 hours per book and there's three of them. Great story.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ha! I'm doing my second listen of oathbringer right now. I love all of the books in the cosmere?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*cosmere. Lol no question mark.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I am at the last few hours of Oathbringer and I'm fucking furious

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think they've updated some things... but your better off buying another game

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Since release there have been some major changes. The style remains the same, but there is more to do now. Base building, missions, and

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Scanning is now more useful. You get secondary elements from minerals after scanning. Upgrades to the flora/fauna scanner gets you more

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Money for scanning. I've also notice bounties are more frequent when im cruising through a system.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not the worst game ever, but also not the best.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was overhyped for sure but I found it enjoyable in a certain fashion of relaxation and exploration that I haven't really felt in others

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The game is all about grinding for hours and hours. Some are entertained by the animals, plants, and planets but it's eventually repetitive.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I found it relaxing, once I accepted it for what it was an not for what it was marketed as.

8 years ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 1

The constant updates they have been putting out really improved the game since launch though.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

No, it was exactly what it was marketed as. People read too much into it, and overhyped it.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 19

Lol, go watch the interviews. Murray claimed it had so many things that it simply does not have.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Yeah no. Take more than a glance at the marketing, they "marketed" it as 10x the game it turned out to be.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Originally, no. Don't know if anything had changed since then.

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 4

They released 3 major updates and several patches. The game has improved a lot.

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 2

Can't argue with that. It HAS improved a lot... I'd still give it a pass for anything > 5$ Canadian though...

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Apparently they had a big overhaul but I never touched the game so dunno

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

their marketing team had a weird understanding of what "unique" means...

8 years ago | Likes 578 Dislikes 2

Unique doesn't mean interesting, good, or of high quality. It just means unique.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it wasn't their understanding that was off, it was the assumptions made by the audience.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Mathematically unique!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A unique understanding, you would say

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it's not exactly the same so therefor it's totally unique!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or truth. In every single interview Sean Murray would just sit there and lie about the capabilities of the game.

8 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 1

This one is purple. This one is lavender. This one is violet. This planet is... well, purple again, but with slightly more rocks.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

And absolutely no understanding of what multiplayer means.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, the rock on one planet is 5 cm left of where it is on another, that's "unique".

8 years ago | Likes 162 Dislikes 1

Mathematically unique

8 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 1

The best kind of unique.
