It's not US politics or Corona. It's a post.
FP Edit:
May you all be safe.
May you all have prosperity.
May you all enjoy the beauty that remains in the world as I have a tough time finding it on my own.
May you all enjoy porridge, sea slugs, badlyphotoshopped greatness, and logs soaked in wood.

I think you should post this

Cute bunny for scale
MoonMoon89
Is that silicon caulk? Or is there a different type it needs to be?
JeffGoldblumsLeftNut
No one uses caulk unless they are a pretentious stay at home nobody.
GrayHogan
Yes.

That local inspector looks a bit shady..
GrayHogan
He's been known to bop heads
Caper2566
You really know how to plant wood. I'm a bit of an artesian myself.
GrayHogan
Well well well
OldElectronicsGuy
I used to cement steel posts and then attach a wooden fence to them.
cactuskid1956
And bunny guard too

What is the purpose of the aggregate
GrayHogan
Drainage I assume
JeffGoldblumsLeftNut
No one uses it.
Eunoterp
bulldog. I could just push that post sideways and itd pop right outta that cross section.
GrayHogan
Yeah but it's still pretty sturdy
GrayHogan
Spaniel!
LoopStricken
Chesty.
aparns50502
Imagine the cross section they had to do.
HenryLongfellowIII
You're letting that rabbit get a bit close to your caulk.

In climates that freeze/thaw each year, I thought you were supposed to have the concrete end several inches below the surface, no?
GrayHogan
No idea.
Heizenberg6
I was walking through the woods in New England, and noticed old rough round cedar posts outlining a corral among the trees. 1/
Heizenberg6
2/ I found 2 large horseshoes with my metal detector. The area dated to late 1800s and the posts were still there. Cedar's good stuff.
bippityboppitybuttsex
You forgot to reference the frost line
GrayHogan
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -- I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.
bippityboppitybuttsex
Perfect.
elembohanon0
I think rocks then dirt enough to level the post then concrete.
Yurets1257
I guess it should be sand in this case, not dirt
GrayHogan
I mean... Sure there are different ways.
Hotkolbas
To post a post?
NotgonnaTellgoogle
Or... Or... Use aluminium. No rot. Cheaper. No issues. Wood on cement/concrete turns to crap in no time.
GrayHogan
But cedar looks good.
RandomGuy12345678910
Cheaper? Where do you get an aluminum 4x4 for less than a wood one? Not doubting, just curious.
JeffGoldblumsLeftNut
No.. just no. He’s talking about an alliminum mount that is attached to the concrete that the wood is then attached to above the concrete...
NotgonnaTellgoogle
Thanks for explaining. Lately I've been assuming people know what I meant. Thanks for that mate. And fuck vodka! Do gin.

Solid. 10/10 post.
QueefBurglarSixtyNine
Watch out using gravel when you’re in clay soil! Consult your local county extension offices for best practices in your area/soil.
HatinS8N
What’s the rabbit for?
bingobangobongoboom
Rabbit for scale? Or maybe just cause floof. Idk, I'm no scientist. Just a guy on the internet.
bpwyndon
This is a good post about the post.

Never thought fences got caulked.
manamongstyou
Cement is super porous, I don't see what caulking would do. That's not a chem treated 4x4 either, so it would biodegrade rather quickly.
Mydogismybestman
Because most fences get caulk blocked.
Vaanhalen
They dont. This is beyond overkill. Anyone who has put in miles of fence has done it a very different way.
DarthRevan810
No such thing as overkill just superior quality, That is going to last.
JeffGoldblumsLeftNut
Yep. Fuck the aggregate, fuck the caulk, and the whole post will be treated if you care enough, its all or none.
TheZacAttack
I always use aggregate, but I only ever use wood for corner posts, everything else is steel t post
GrayHogan
Everyone gets the caulk.
Nalianna
The caulk stops the water from soaking the post. it's a caulk-soaker.
nacx12
Even your mom?
GrayHogan
More than normal.
GiantEnemyMudcrabz
You’re welcome.
