Falco Peregrinus

This is a photo I took a few years ago with one of the original Samsung Galaxy Nexus phones, that may be why it's so grainy. Anyway, it's a Peregrine Falcon. A fellow who worked where I do had a falconers license and this was his bird.

He used it to hunt ducks and maybe pheasant, I can't recall for sure. He said his bird would climb to 1000 feet and dive when it spotted a duck. It would make impact with the duck's wing breaking it. He said when the duck hit the ground it would bounce several feet off of the ground.

He would then feed the heart to the falcon, it was the only part it wanted.
