Having a girlfriend that’s on the skinnier side has really shown me how toxic society has come in zeroing in on protecting just one type of body image for women. It seems that all the “body confidence” campaigns and ads are only attributed to heavier set women and never show women that are lighter or struggle in gaining weight. I’m constantly having to reassure my gf that I find her body attractive amidst negative influences from social media, the public, and even her friends telling her that she’s too skinny and needs to eat more. It’s so much more socially acceptable to tell someone they need to gain weight instead of lose it and that needs to end.

Blame lazy, feckless whales who would rather die young than admit they could solve their issues with an ounce of restraint.

It's more the over-compensating types that irk me. I think they're ones that latch on the this positive fatty image. I dunno.

It ebbs and flows, back in my day it was all about thin waif women.
Churtothechur
Same here bro. My gf is a tiny and struggles to gain weight. Genetics

What I'm getting from this is that being a skinny female is basically the same as being a straight white male in today's society
chuckfranck
I think the issue is most of these "thick" women are not thick at all
jakamac
I’m sorry she feels this way but it’s not the same. https://everydayfeminism.com/2014/10/skinny-shaming-not-reverse-discrimination/

The world is a shitty biased mess my dude.
TheGuyWhoBeatsHisMeat
That's why I play War Thunder. No bias.

For many decades being curvier was seen as gross or not desirable. Now the media has taken it to the extreme in the opposite direction.
SolidestCurve
I've never liked fatties.

This is good stuff!

Or men..

Honesty, as a woman on the thicker side, I find the campaigns annoying to watch. They're literally everywhere, and when someone brings (1/)
VinellaBean
Up anything revolving around the word healthy, they become a giant target. It's getting out of hand. I'm all for body positivity, (2/)

Just don't be a bitch about it even someone opposite of you celebrates theirs. (3/3)

When someone opposite of you*

In early 90s, the fashion was skinny girls, which lead to a big amount of girls suffering from bulimia and getting hospitalized.
Wednesdude
It took more than 2 decades to get people to "accept" their body statures and forms = because we are beautiful as we are.2/3
Wednesdude
But do not feel desperate - in a decade or two, skinny girls will be "fashionable"again. For example - chubby ladies were modern through 3/4

the entire Renaissance. The guilt for these "fashions" are the artists (like Rubens), and lately the photographs in big fashion houses.

I'm a guy, but still-- I'm 5'10" and I've been 135 lbs since hs, +- 3. Short of keeping myself overfed to the point of nearly throwing up >>

at all times, "eating a meal" won't change anything e.e;
