Front view
I made this for one of my college classes, and primarily used laser cutting to create the art and box. I used an Arduino to program the lights, and you can change the light settings by twisting the knob. There is also a photo resistor on top so you can dim the lights manually by placing your hand over it.
Back view
This is the back with my makers mark, I made it a little too large for this peice. Also, I had to keep the back accessible so I made hinges using velcro to hold the back on while displaying.

Came out pretty well over all, sad that I had to dismantle it though.

I had to give parts pack to my professor. I'll eventually buy the parts I'm missing and make it again, with improvements.

My son just did something similar for class using arduino & midi w/sensors for touch & motion. The 'music' was altered by interacting w/ box

That's cool! I've never been any good at using arduinos with sound, but they always come out so great, I'm going to have to learn how.

His was part of a music technology class & not nearly as visually pleasing. Built w/ CD case lids; made box & covered w white fabric.

Maybe y'all should team up. Touch lamp / alarm clock that gets louder & brighter after snooze period. Touch & motion modify alarm noise.
