That shitpile of a company hasn't gotten a dime from me in years. This isn't going to change now.

As someone who worked for the PIF over here in the GM building, let me tell you Kushner would come down (his office shares the floor above) when the main number 2 SA dude was in town (he runs the PIF) and the clouds would roll in. That company is fucking dark.

I've been actively avoiding EA products for decades. It's possible, so you can do it too.

its probably too late now but, go ahead and delete your EA account.

My first thought was maybe going private and not being beholden to shareholder profits might be exactly what EA needs these days... Then I read the source and who was buying it and yea... I don't see this going well.

y'know, until Kushner hands over all of the days of every EA gamer to the Trump administration. even though I don't like EA, I'm so tired of the US govt having their cronies stick their fingers into every fucking thing

It looks like some Saudi Princes and Jared Kushner's private firms are the ones buying it up for the debt.

Awfully expensive loot box they got there.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fuck. Here I was, hoping it was Gaben that bought it to try to bring a new golden era of gaming.

This might actually be a good thing, because the sale of the company might result in the buyer selling off some of the franchises to help pay for the purchase. This would release some franchises from EA. It would be great if the Maxis family of games were sold off to someone who wants to treat them properly, this would include The Sims, Simcity, Sim-everything.

The only way this could be a good thing, heh

Considering they're selling to Tump's son in law's company (Silver Lake Partners is run by Jared Kushner) I'm not holding my breath.

It doesn't matter how shitty of a person it is running this deal. All we need to is count on them being greedy.

don't care what happens to that overpriced copy paste game -company

And nothing of value was lost.

meh fuck EA, nothing of value is lost

Would have liked for them to sell of their IP's like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Star Wars KoTOR and so on so they can get homes with devs that actually care and not greedy suits that know nothing of games and story telling.

If anything, it frees talented people to find work in better companies.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Eh. It can't be much worse than what EA is right now.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Joke's on you. EA could release half-finished games with unnecessary DLC and also include far-right propaganda in them, too

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So, like... current EA games?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It could be very bad... Or it could be very good. EA has kind of been a garbage fire of a company for a long time. If someone with half a brain gets in there and starts fixing the shit they've done, it might actually do some good.

New owners include a Saudi investment firm and Jared Kushner.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So, what you're saying is that it could get a whole lot worse

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

If that's true then I take back everything I've said. RIP ea. You had a mediocre run.

"Under the terms of the deal announced Monday, the private equity firm Silver Lake Partners, Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund PIF and Affinity Partners will pay EA’s stockholders $210 per share. Affinity Partners is a private equity firm run by President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner." (from the article linked)

It's too early and I haven't had enough coffee to read a big article just yet. But the fact that it's Kusher and the Saudi's buying it up I think we can expect some terrible changes. Not like EA hasn't been in a pit for ages. Origin has been circling the drain for almost a decade now.

They had a fantastic run until 1998ish.

I can't say as everything they've released in the last decade or so has been terrible... Why I've pirated several of their games... Like Sims 4... Because the moment they took out pools and an entire life stage from the game (only to be sold back later as DLC of course) I lost all interest in ever giving them my money ever again.... But I still love The Sims.

Once upon a time, they were the single greatest and most prolific -studio- in existence. Then they used their platform to move into publishing (uh oh!), and then they started buying up smaller studios and dismantling them. Now here we are. They are just publishers that keep a bunch of studios in a basement living off of pop tarts and red bull and trying to appease investors so that they don't get the hose again.
