#16 many many years ago I studied architecture. We had a prof with a thick German accent, and he taught the class on steel frame construction. As this tiny little monopoly man of a professor spent 2 hours talking about the erection of rigid materials, thick posts, and so on, I nearly died. Like physically exhausted from barely holding in shuddering laughter the whole lecture. Eventually I assume he had to have know and was playing it up to fuck with me.

#4 nah that's not being a legend, that's just being a reckless asshole

2 months ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 13

...ever driven up I-5 between Bakersfield and Tracy, and gotten stuck going 55 because one truck has their truck California limiter at 55 mph, and the other at 56?
I sure have.
The +1 mph pass takes *8 minutes and 55 seconds*, covers 8.3 miles / 13.3 km - meanwhile, 325 cars slow from 80 mph to 56 mph and stack up for *2.5 miles* behind the two trucks and that "rolling roadblock" jam takes *another* 13m to clear once the 56 mph truck moves back to the right lane.

2 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

Yeah, i've been there. That's life. Life is not an excuse to be a reckless asshole.

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

speed limit on most of i5 is 65 isn't it? regardless, pretty sure it's not 80 anywhere.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's 55 mph for trucks and 70 for cars for the last 30 years (December 1995).
Cars take the speed limit as a vague hand-wavy suggestion and 80 is common since it's "only 10 over".
Not as bad as I-95 north of Palm Beach (where "I-95" is mistaken for a speed limit sign, and FHP doesn't *really* care until you're above a buck-oh-five most days...since everyone is going that fast...) but it's pretty close.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sooo, brake-checking a semi and potentially causing a highway fatality is okay because you're gonna be 21 minutes late to your camp site or whatever?

Doesn't fucking matter that the 55mph is ALSO in the wrong, it doesn't give you an excuse to be a reckless cunt and fuck around with people's lives.

Call the highway cops, let them handle it.

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Slowing from 57 mph to 54 mph in front of a semi going 56 mph is not "brake checking". That's a terrible strawman.
Should you drive on the shoulder to go around? No. It's illegal.
Do I 100% understand and support the guy (and it's GOT TO BE a guy) who did it? Yes.
Was it unsafe? In the grand scheme of things? Not really. A little, yeah, but not that much all things considered.

#4 I don't understand who you are praising. If it's the car driver overtaking from the right and then brake checking the lorry, this is beyond insane and reckless

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Trucks, respect the rules please !

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Drivers, don't think you're the ones that can enforce those rules, please

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's obvious, but when no one respects the rules, this happens.
Truckers, don't give a bad example.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Posters, dont glorify people puting others lives in danger for the sake of road rage

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So, I'll stop showing truckers, they're too dangerous.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

#4 what an asshole. Not the semi, the guy driving recklessly like he has some kind of say in how people should drive on the highway.

2 months ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 17

Trucks must also respect the rules !

2 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

...says someone who's clearly never driven up I-5 between Bakersfield and Tracy, and gotten stuck going 55 because one truck has their truck California limiter at 55 mph, and the other at 56.

Yeah, i've been there. That's life. Life is not an excuse to be a reckless asshole.

2 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 13

Let's not displace our anger. The actual asshole is the truck driver who passes at +1 mph.
And by "the truck driver who passes at +1 mph", I mean "Billionaires who set up an entire society so that the truck driver feels the need to pass at +1 mph in the first place."

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#4 in this case, if it's stupid but it works, it's still stupid and incredibly reckless, don't drive with the idea that you have to enforce the rules, especially if semis are involved

2 months ago | Likes 86 Dislikes 1

I regularly want the trucks to respect the rules when no overtaking is allowed.
I was happy to see that I'm not alone and that this guy dared to do this.
That' why I posted, it satisfies some people.
But obviously, don't do this.
And trucks, no overtaking is NO OVERTAKING please.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

The laws of man may be on your side, but the laws of physics are the ones that matter....

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Its simply deadly dangerous. Theres no other consideration. When its possible to die horribly and take others with you? You shut the fuck up and drive safely

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought this was an insurance scam, her the truck to hit you and get money...yes a lot of risk but people will people

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Any good they might have done is more than offset by the fact that they used the breakdown lane to overtake the other semi.

2 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

It's actually illegal in some states to use a vehicle to purposely control another vehicle and can actually lead to a criminal confinement charge (at least that's what they told me in my defensive driving certification)

I think I’m not getting something because I have no clue wtf the asshole guy in the car’s problem is. What’s his issue with the semi trucks?

2 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

Driving slow in the fast lane and thinking it's okay to be a reckless piece of shit to enforce highway regs as a civilian

2 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

betting he was doing the speed limit based on the other trucks and my experience on the road. So car committed multiple crimes, on camera, just to get somewhere a bit faster.
'but it's not your job to enforce traffic laws!' - people celebrating this person enforcing left lane laws when it's someone going the speed limit in the left. >>

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Semi is in the "fast"/overtaking lane with a queue behind it. Car driver got fed up and forced the semi to slow down and pull back behind the other semi.

I've seen people explaining that the overtaking semi might actually have been trying to overtake the other semi and it's a slow process, so just have a bit of patience.

2 months ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

On the other hand, the semi in the fast lane stopped the cars behind him from potentially running into the reckless driver crossing two lanes at once

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've seen this too often. One semi "passing" another at 1/8 mph differential. If that's the best you can do, stay in the right lane.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is. They don't have a lot of acceleration to begin with and if the trailer is loaded then there's even less. No way to know about the trailer, of course.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Thanks for explaining that! I got stuck behind a motor home once going slow in the fast lane, a police car passed me in the right lane, pulled up beside the camper and flashed lights/ sirens for a second. Got the camper dudes attention and waved him into the slow lane, then dropped back, pulled back into the fast lane and set the rest of us stuck behind him free…at 10 over

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's a process that shouldn't happen. At such small speed differentials, you won't save any significant amount of time reaching your destination while costing all the people behind you orders of magnitude more time than you are saving. It's so idiotic that we made it illegal in Germany. If you are a semi driver taking too long to overtake another one, you're risking a significant penalty.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the trucks are often governed at almost the same speeds. i try not do it but sometimes i can only drive 71mph to overtake a vehicle doing 70. i do my best.

2 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

So why do you have to overtake at all?

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

because the slow truck may only be doing 45 half the time when i can do 60.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Truckers are burdened with obnoxious timetables that assume that they're basically running their machine at it's governed maximum all day long. So if they get stuck behind a machine going 1-2 MPH slower than them, it can have serious knock-on effects on the rest of their trip.
